The one I don't see listed is PS2-Star Wars Battlefront I. It was a great online FPS. Great maps, no lag, communication worked, really fast load times, and best of all it had AI in addition to human enemies making sure there was always some action.

That game had multiple private servers running for 7 years, well after BFII, the PS3 and 360 came out. I think that is the greatest testament to the game. People were still paying their own money for server time long after DNAS shut down the rooms, and most had the ability to play next-gen games.

I thought the Half Life 2 series was excellent as well as Portal.

FEAR was highly entertaining however it was just a tad too repetitive.

Next I would put Doom 3 and Prey because of the amazing graphics and awesome weapons.

On my PS2 Black was a kickass fps, really great graphics and awesome level design.

The first far cry. Definatly one of my favorite shooting games. Along with most of the ones mentioned

lets see atm i would have to say CoD 4 like so many others have and add one i haven't seen any one mention resistance fall of man for ps3 the multiplayer on that is the shit and if you dont believe me play the bus depot free for all with shotguns only and 1 hit kills is the most fun i ever had on a fps: average life 30sec 1min if you are good.

Goldeneye - first raw FPS no auto aim made it alot more fun and tactical

Timesplitters 2 - Had a map maker, amazing multiplayer

Halo - bringing back the no auto aim of goldeneye made this game great, needing more skill creating a sick online multiplayer

only ones i would add just because i liked them

perfect dark
medal of honor frontline, loved the campaign of that
