Slow thread loads

The loading of threads seems to have slowed down a lot.
initially the page will appear to load, then freeze until additional data is loaded.

The culprit appears to be the: s7.addthis.com/static/R07/sho88.html link. I believe that is tied to the share button.

A google search seems to indicate that a lot of sites that use their services have load issues. Any chance GC could host the image on your servers?

Are you ad blocking? Do you get that button?

Initially you can move the page a little, then it freezes until the +share appears.

Hmmm, just noticed that this thread didn't appear in my User CP?!

I posted in a thread where the +Share isn't an option and the thread took forever to load...in fact, it never completed loading, after waiting for way too long, I closed the tab.

I haven't had any issues with slowness...yet anyways...

I do however block the crap outta everything...Ghostery blocks Google +1 effectively if that's the problem...

I may have to do that. Added the s7 to the Host file, but the +share is still there (as well as Google + and twitter).

Thanks for the suggestion. Just a touch ironic that so much has to be blocked to enjoy the site.

This site is nothing...some other sites have literally pages of ads/trackers blocked in my lists...

The weird thing is that there have been more than a few instances here where trackers/ads have slowed down the loading of the pages...kinda weird...

The internet is big business...data miners are everywhere...they make big money...

For all people that has slow thread loading issue , i highly advise you to check your connections. I went through logs and loading times are amazingly fast.

Third party scripts like add this , google + 1 can slow down your page loading time.

P.S : Add this is configured to load on every thread

I never report anything unless all other sites are running fine for me which would mean my connection is pretty decent.

sloooooowwww loading again. seems to be something to do with all the sharing crap, twitter, facebook shall be blamed. i beg the powers that be to remove that shyte completly from the city!

SJ is going to probably kill me but I'm a member here as well as the Forum Admin and I think like a member a lot. I think it is a great thing to have the fb share and such for the entire City but when it comes to individual threads...because the whole thread gets shared without the knowledge of those posting in the thread...I don't see it as a great thing. Link backs are one thing...sharing threads are a whole other story.

If something could be implemented where we can opt out of having our posts shared when threads are shared, that would be ok...otherwise, I think, for the type of community we are, that's it's just not cool.

My two cents...that will probably get me in trouble but it is what it and I think what I think.

there is a thread i keep trying DESPERATELY to get to load

it's Storm Crows MMJ thread with all the links. i can click on the last page link to get into the thread but for days now EVERY time i try to get to the first page it loads a little, then when i scroll down it immediately freezes and i get the (not responding) notice and am forced to close and re-open my browser.

i have no idea why this won't work. no other thread loads and freezes like this, and my connection here at work is very good.

any idea on why this is happening? happening to anyone else?

yes that's the one, have never had any luck getting it to load. tried everything.

ill give it a shot when i get home on my computer, thanks though, glad to know its not the thread, just my work comp.

funny though, if i find it in a forum, i can click on the last page link and that page loads fine, its just the first page has never worked for me.
