A ? about "ignore"

so if I have john doe on ignore .and john doe says to himself " You know what .. I've PO'd 90 % of GC so I want a new handle" then gets RMJL to delete account..

I then get to read all of John Doe's posts cause "guest accounts " cannot be ignored..

any way to fix this ?

look dude, I dont want to read post of peeps I ignore. hence the use of the ignore option.

You don't HAVE to read anything. You're right I don't understand, because it makes zero sense. See his post? Keep scrolling! The page doesn't freeze on his posts and force you to read them.

No, I do understand. I dont think you understood me. For sake of the argument, lets say the guy you ignored was Smoker420. Smoker420 deletes his account, and now you can see all his posts because he's listed as a guest. NOW, how do you know for SURE that the guest posts you're reading are Smoker420s posts and not someone elses post who deleted their account? See what I'm saying? You cant be 100% sure if it's even the same person you ignored.

When the account is deleted, whatever reference code that identified with your ignore list must be deleted from the database along with the account. Seeing as there is still user information left over, I could see this being an easy fix to do. But gnik has seem to be overwhelmed in work recently, lots of major problems going on right now, so not sure how long it will take for someone to get around to it.

And WK, I think you need to take a step back and chill for a second. No reason to even be arguing in a Forum Tech Problems and Troubleshooting thread anyways...

Just wondering if this "glitch" ( for lack of a better name) made sense to anyone, and if it can be fixed. Cause I personally see it as a way for trolls to "get away with it".

The reason is, one new member was trashing lots of posts ( POd toasty .. and that's tough to do ), and when I told peeps to just ignore the member they immediately had the account deleted, so know we HAVE to deal with( whether it be by having to think "skip this post", or actually reading) the damn posts. Now I hope it is cause they realized their mistake and want to turn over a new leaf, but that doesn't mean I want to deal with the agitating posts left behind.

From my limited understanding of internet language and database experience (not too limited really), I would say it really isn't that hard of a fix. I think it runs more along the lines of there being a reason in which it was setup this way, rather than it being a glitch. But I could be terribly wrong.

I see it as a reasonable suggestion though regardless. I can see where the frustration and drama could come into play with this. Deletion shouldn't cause you to see a person's posts if you had ignored them.

I had this problem with HazeyGrapes/Pokernaut, dude was a peice of shit, now I have to read his crap because he was banned and his posts remain...and they are everywhere in the smoke report and bank sections...and he was one weird young man

My guess is the easiest way to make something unsearchable, such as a deleted user, is to just remove all the tags associated with them...thus removing the one that ties in with the ignore list also...
