I would agree I had a cold back in may and I didnt really smoke during it (weed or cigs), was too tired and sick to. So, I thought about how this would be a great time to quit cigs. But as I was feeling better I thought about having 1 more to say goodbye and remind myself what cigs feel like. I was addicted to cigarettes again within a few days.

Re: Freedom’s guide to quitting nicotine.

Well I did have that one cig. I didn't smoke it all, just to relieve the withdraw. Hopefully this won't make me go through another few days of hell. I have good self control but today was just bad. I won't smoke again for another few days if at all.

There is no sucht thing as just one cigarette. Don't be disappointed Myles, I know you'll quit when the time is right.

Yep, in the four days you didn't smoke, your body cleared out carbon monoxide and nicotine, and you just put it all back.

That's why a quit date is so important. Gives you a chance to 'say goodbye' when you should. If you reeeeally wanna quit, there is never a need to have one just to 'remember what it feels like'.

Only til you punch the addiction in the goolies and then it turns into a positive life experience instead of a negative one.

You were at the peak of difficulty man, pushing through that part is part of the quit process.

Fuck it! Yasall need to read the guide again!

'Satsuji, don't sweat it, you will quit, you just need to go back a stage or two.

Re: Freedom’s guide to quitting nicotine.

Well Im happy to say that that cig didnt send me back into it. I feel better than ever, except for the irritablility. I have no cravings but everything pissed me off today. So I tried smoking one to calm me down, and guess what? I didnt like it. It didnt help at all. The action of smoking did help to calm me down because it got my mind off of things but I didnt want the nicotine!

Re: Freedom’s guide to quitting nicotine.

Every time I quit smoking I develop a painful cough that lasts for several weeks with phlegm building up within the first few days of quitting. I remember I picked up smoking because I found it to extremely relaxing. I didn't realize I was addicted until I looked at my bank statement and realized how much money I was spending on cigarette packs. So like a true addict, instead of quitting, I started buying cartons. I've been smoke free for about 2 1/2 weeks and am now addicted to sugar.

I have no idea how this is working for you, in truth I suspect it isn't, as you are effectively still smoking. I'm not trying to bust your balls and I am of course genuinely happy for you if this is working for you. But you are defying the laws of science and I expect making this way harder for yourself than it needs to be. Denial comes in many flavours. Best of luck to you though man.

The cough is pretty normal, your lungs are clearing themselves out of gunk. Well fucking done though man! 2 1/2 weeks is freakin' awesome!
Try to munch on fruit, nuts and smoothies, they're nature's candy.

I dont think so. I wasnt that big of a smoker anyway. The biggest addiction I had to it was the act of smoking. Im guessing I had a very small addiction to the nicotine. I never inhaled the cigs that much anyway. Most people I know puff on it like a joint. I cant do that. Ill inhale a mouthful and exhale it without holding it in.

Re: Freedom’s guide to quitting nicotine.

Just something I found out.

"Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6 and B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal."

Re: Freedom’s guide to quitting nicotine.

That's interesting, thanks for posting that. I certainly ate a lot of fruit and my fair share of bananas when I quit.

Can't believe I'm still smoke free, but it's been 3 weeks and I'm going strong. My cough finally cleared but now my teeth are starting to ache.
