How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

I've been smoking cigs since I was like 12 years old. My mom has smoked cigs for as long as I can remember too. I used to love them. I've hated smoking for years now. I want to quit, but every time I try, I always revert back to smoking again. I get cranky and easily irritated, and I nic somethin fierce.

I've tried cold-turkey, I've tried gradually reducing how much I smoke, and I've even trying hypnosis (which totally didn't work at all).

How the fuck do I quit. I hate the smell, I hate the taste, I hate the cost (which continues to rise), I hate how I can no longer smoke in public places (dallas has completely banned smoking everywhere), I hate how my lung capacity has diminished over the years. I need tips!

PLS HELP FOR THNX!

Re: How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

I've been cigarette free for about 120 days now. I used nicotine lozenges. I've also been smoking since I was 12, and had unsuccessful quit attempts in the past. Cigarettes are more addictive than crack, so all the more power to you if you can do it cold turkey, but I would reccommend easing off.

Re: How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

I quit cold-turkey seven months ago by getting one of those cheap party favor necklaces that had a bubble wand and little container on it, and blew bubbles whenever I wanted a cigarette. Combine that with nicotine gum, and you're golden. Seriously. Also, calculate how much money you'll be saving if you quit. You'll be surprised!

Good luck, it's not easy, but you can do it. Many, many people do every day.

Re: How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

I quit 6 years ago after reading a book called "The Easyway to Stop Smoking" by Alan Carr. I had smoked almost a pack a day for 10 years.

It's a really short book, it costs around $10, and he tells you to keep smoking while you read it, so you have nothing to lose. I swear it works, and I'm not at all into self help books (read the reviews on Amazon).

Re: How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

I was never really a heavy smoker but i quit about two years ago cold turkey. I got into lifting weights and being healthy and couldnt smoke and feel good about my health. Haven't even touched one since. I dont think i was ever really addicted no matter how much i smoked. A lot of people think that its just the habit of putting something up to your mouth that makes it so hard to quit. Thats how it was to me, just something to do when im drunk or whatever. Anyways now i can't even stand the smell. Just stick with trying to quit and imagine how much damage you're doing to youre lungs with every inhale. If you take a hit and blow it onto the back off your hand as if your whistleing, you can see the little brown spot of tar it leaves. And thats just one hit.

Re: How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

pack a day smoker here. clean for 9 months, been smoking 6 years.

I simply looked at all the factors logically, it's bad for my health, costs money, etc.

I then stopped buying them.

good luck

READ THIS I SWEAR IT WORKS

if you want to kick that habit, start dipping.

it gives you a buzz, cost less and is better

you can stop smoking, start dipping, then quit dipping

Should work..

um, bad idea.

If you're going to go this route get the gum, it's less addictive(and messy) than dip.

And dippin is about 10X worst than cigarrettes... talk about a way to destroy your jaw

That's how your teeth and gums will look with about 1-2 years of dipping at an average of 6 times a day.

quitting smoking

Quitting cigarettes was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. I started smoking in my teens and quit a few times only to pick the habit back up eventually. It was not until my mid-thirties that I was finally able to quit for good. Perhaps my experience mirrors your own. By sharing some quit smoking tips that worked for me, my hope is that you will be able to quit cigarettes for good as well.

Re: How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

I know his won help you at all but..

I personally quit after my first one. I had taken puffs before but one time when I was wasted I let my guard down and took up an offer for a full cigarette. I can honestly say I hated it. However I had cravings for like two weeks but then after the two weeks I started hating them again. Now every time I take a puff of one I hate it evenn more

Buy try smoking small joints every time you feel lie smoking. Or sleeping or watching tv. Basically replace it with another habbit (just make sure it's a good one)

Re: How did you quit smoking cigarettes?

mix some reggie blunts/joints with tobbaccer, mix some reggie with less tobbaccer, mix some reggie with barely any tobbaccer, mix some reggie with no tobbaccer. BAM

I dont know, I don't even smoke just thought that would be an interesting way to attempt to quit.
