i am new to growing having only completed 1, but i have been researching the LED ufo's and from what i can come up with the things dont work cause the red and blue lights are the wrong spectrum. it seems that chlorophyll a and b absorb different levels of red and blue lights. i think some claim that the best for red is 660 nm and others are saying 630nm and blue being 420 or 450 nm. my question is would the led grow be more successful if two 90w ufo's, one with r660 & b420, and the other with 630 and 450 nm have the full spectrum to make the plant grow at its fullest potential.

here is the info that is on the hood

its a hydrofarm grow light
120V 4.05A 60HZ
use only 430 watt hps S51 type lamp

I attached a pic (I think)

I am hoping to use this lucky find in a small setup now that I have it.....just dont want to burn anything up in the process.

Have a closet that is 58" wide X 24" deep X 8 feet high. I am running two 4" EcoPlus Classic fans and a 4.5" clean air intake fan (similar to a PC fan).

I really think the inlines are going to be loud for some reason. I purchased insulated duct-hose...

But I was trying to think of a cheap material to put on the walls prior to putting up my mylar.. here are some of the brainstorming ideas I had...

--soundproof material used on dishwashers sandwiched between cardboard boxes then covered in mylar (Con: alot of construction for an unknown)

--some sort of cheap corregated board (con: most everything I have found is just too thin)

--Material that is sold as application specific to soundproofing (VERY expensive)

--foam sound unsulation in the walls (con: was told that when it hardens it could actually amplify sound because of its rigitity)

HELP!!!

I purchased a BudBox (75cm x 75cm x 200cm), a light with ballast, and some rockwool cubes of varying sizes. I am going down the hydroponics route, but though buying some nutrients I may not use them. A colleague of mine grew this way without any chemicals and had a great harvest.

Yesterday I soaked the cubes in water and placed them in a propagator to warm them through. Once warmed through I placed five seeds (Nirvana Northern Lights) into the cubes.
