He has a ton more videos and talks, not to mention his books, which are very good books IMO. Lived a very interesting life. Great voice, humorous and incredibly witty. Very good understanding too, in my opinion, a master philosopher. One of my greatest inspirations, amongst Bruce Lee, the RZA and others.

What do you guys think of the dude? I know some hardcore Buddhists don't agree with the status he has in the west, but I find that he had a damn good command of the understanding of the many different religions and the truths they point to - and he was a very interesting communicator. Apparently there are a bunch of Buddhists that think he is "overrated" though, if you will.

Anyone read any his books? What do you think? I've read Wisdom of Insecurity and I thought it was great. Currently reading the Way of Zen and his autobiography.

Apparently he was Tupac's favorite author. So you know its good shit. ;)

Christianity - religion teacher

Hello, i was raised moderately/not really catholic all of my life, and attend a catholic high school. We are required to take religion class every year and every year i sit through it and take it. My only rebellion is in opinion questions where i totally say i dont believe in god. My teacher always rips on athiests and says they are going to hell. I want to prove him wrong. i want to dumbfound him.

What do i say, i feel so strongly against god, i believe in my own morals, and draw my morals from my upbringing.. Like a guy on another thread said, if you were brought up in another religion you would draw to that religion and say its the best religion.

My religion teacher says that every other religion is "invincibly ignorant/conscience" meaning they dont know and therefore cant be punished for not following christianity.

I want to slap him
Christianity is as much of a cult as the kkk..
-You make signs with your hand
-You attend "meetings"
-You pledge to it, and eat a symbol to connect yourself to it

In my religion notes it says
"you may not have any false idols, but a crucifix is okay cause its not really an idol"
BLAH BLAH lets make exceptions just for christianity

When people lose something or someone, they do anything to attempt to gain it back.

People grow attached to their surroundings, to their possessions. They find comfort in what is familiar to them, never really go outside themselves or inside themselves.

They are comfortably numb.

The reason we suffer so much is because we are afraid to let go.

We are afraid of what is unknown.

We like staying in our little boxes where we know everything and everyone. We are afraid to venture out into the world, we are afraid of meeting new people you see everyday. Everyone keeps to themselves, yet what good does that do? Are you afraid of bothering someone? Are you afraid of sharing stories, making connections?

We are afraid of disputing our identity. We are afraid, yet we claim to "love". I love this, I love that, yet we are all shivering on the inside. How can you love when you are so full of fear? How can you even say you have lived when you are stuck in a conditioned state of mind that thinks there are boundaries, that thinks that it must do this or do that in order to be seen eye to eye.

No one in this world gives two flying shits about anything, not like I do, not like I do.

Simply be, be open.

You can change this. People have become cold, private, and feelingless. They have adapted to the way of the sheep, to the way of the herd. They do not do much parting, adventuring for themselves.

Who is leading the masses? Who follows the masses? What does the mass truly "know"?

Are they just as lost as those who are not in the mass?

Start to question, start to see. Who I is. Not what they think I is, but what I knows itself to be.

Please, begin. Please, end. Please look where no one has looked. Please find what no one has found. Please think for yourself, and don't be afraid. Please love. Please.
