Dr Mengle's perpeptual grow for the handicapped

I've decided to comeout and show my system for the handicapped.Let you all follow what can be done. I have RA. rhumatoid arthrits. Can't lift 45lbs can't go to hands and knees to do stuff,and have a poor grip.i drop stuff if i'm not careful . I can use drills not saws. When i started 20 yrs ago i was ablebodied could move 180 lb co2 tanks with no problem now i have to lift my coffee cup with both hands. Lets start with the cycle and harvest just completed because i have pics of that and then move up to current pics that i will take as we go along.

High everybody.When last we talked I only had pics of the past y'all want current . I got it. I thought rather than just ramble because I tend to do that i'd make a outline so I can focus. I want to tell info ,use anologies, and tell you some horror stories.I'll always try to tell you what stuff cost and where i got it. I'll start with GEAR 2.LOCATIONS 3.DESIGN 4.PROBLEMS YOU"RE GOING TO HAVE 5.HOW TO RUN YOUR RIG EFFICENTLY(perpetual harvest) 6.Harvest. There's a 1000 plus ways to grow but some things have to be done no substitues. I've crashed and burned many times in 20 yrs it happens.I've never been anything but a cab grwr but these past two summers i've plnts in outdr remote sites. I failed totally first time. 2nd time better but only a C- in my estimation but i digress.Let me dicribe pics. 1.Developement chmbr 3 robust unsexed Purple Peopleeaters 1 weak sister PP and a Gen 4 Big Band they went in the tank from rokwool plugs 1-26 they stay in until flwr chmbr vacant aprox march 1 every body on Lucas Formula. pic 2 flrwing chmbr 1 Big Band (SCOGGED) left side 3 runt BB right side.I expect littlte from them its a nute and lite distribution experiment.Sun lite will be raised 6'' and i hit it with GRAVITY and its 4 wks to RAMADAN. Pic 3. Dirt Developement Chmbr with 3 PurplePeopleEaters in dirt using airpots the whole buket lifts out and goes out in the hall where it is feasting on a sunbeam on sunny days and nites under the led.when they out grow buket i pull the deck repot put in bowls sit on floor get another 14''. everything i design is multi purpose dirt or hydro. pic4.This my gear i use caddies coloor coded. Take care of your gear and it will take care of you.Dark blue kit is everyday nute kit. Light blue stuff i need but don't use every time. Green is emergency cleaning/general cleaning kit. Folding camp stool,hassock,5gal buket for mixing, 4gal buket marked in liters and gals,baster ,and the most important tool i have. A liquid transfer pump stick. I can't lift stuff but i sure can pump it. I can't garden without it.They are in each chambr. They cost $11 om amazon. I always keep a spare they break easily but you can slip a hose on the end run it to a low drain like your shwr and drain it while you sit comfortable on yer camp stool and smoke a joint. done mixing nutes you don't pour into reservoir pump it finish your joint. pic 5.these are specialized toys you need to have...tweezers with paddle ends for picking up seeds.magnifying glasses..big one for reading labels out of plastic little one out glass for when you need to get thru folliage on a bug hunt. glass magnifies with more clarity...strainers for when i clean hydrton rock.if you don't a screen like the small one on your sink bad things can happen. if you have a garbage disposal it'll jam that that you can clear easy enough however....time for horror story. 1995 i plug the sink .plumber comes over takes the u bend off its full of h rock. Rember this stuff floats so if filled the u part and blocked it. ok. tap it out reinstall. Done ! Turn on sink runs for couple min plug again.Unbeknownst to us some rk got past and now plugs the dwnward run of pipe ( i'm upstairs) he goes dwn to the pipe in the store below and unscews the cleanout carrying a little buket .All the water in the sink and the pipe coming shooting out under pressure and spray the store with nasty ass Draino wtr.Yes i cleaned it all for them and i didn't get thrown out but it was a close thing pic6. From my car to my apt is almost half blk so this is my water cart with some of containers i use..8gal jerry can for remote sites,3 1gal for compost tea,1 5gal with handles. i buy water at a water store and they have carts there so i can get it to my car. pic 6. 10 gal buket for cleaning, dunking,and mixing big batches various plastic bowls pic 7. 3gal that i use in my water station waiting for my lazy ass to put it in the water station pic 8. water station / development tank 3 gal with hand pump attached with 1 liter watering can...ok thats it for today the wrists are dead next time LOCATION TIPS

High everybody. before i get started evidently i was rude to some of you out there by talkin how i do in person online.Forums are new to me and i guess i gotta be more PC. appology done. Today lets talk LOCATION. I've had 3 grows in 3 sites. I 8yrs, 1 only 1yr,and currently 10yrs. I got tossed from the 1st two. Heres what i learned. Know who your neighbors are and what they're about.Do they care what you're doing or not. Is yer landlord a individual or a mgmt co. If its a individual it can be iffy. If insist on showing up to collect the rent you're going to have a problem sooner or later. mgmt. co where you mail or drop the check off is best. Pay yer rent a mo or two in advance (use a money order) they will love you. Now no matter what they are inclined to keep you. Keep tthe noise down and don't call attention to yourself. Try and have your grow upstairs the heat and stank of your grow will be easier to get rid of. Fans are noisy. the bigger the diameter fan the quieter they can get.....i'm talking harmonics. Inline duct fans can be suspended by bungies to cut dwn on that.Squirrel cage fans get loud if they are not muffled somehow. Daytons have that high pitch whine thats noticeable. if all your stuff running sounds like a poorly running old fridge. thats good because people if they hear it will dismiss it as that.That whooosh yer exhaust makes could be a problem. If you live next to a frreway none of that will be heard. Look for a place thats noisy and has something fragrant that can mask the smell of yer grow. example. my first grow was in a hallway closet outside my apt and 10ft from a fan extractor for mexi taco shop.The sound and fragrance completely hid my grow odor and sound. i lost that place eventually because they wanted to renovate the apt and i was using pwr and they were paying for it. 23 yrs i lived there. move to socal into cottage built new cab in the bathrm and vented out the ceiling. Landlord coming around odd hrs at nite just walking sniffing the air. after a year he goes i'm going to raise yer rent $125 WTF! I'm makin $8 an hr.Guess i'm moving. I find my current place on CL the guy wants to get out of his lease. I go to look at the place it has everything a grwr could want EVERYTHING!! and more. Airconditioning, pwr included in rent, parking, storage,a laundry rm to mask odors, and most important no immediate neighbors. backyards all around, a mgmt co to deal with no individual.Keep it behind yer doors pay rent on time or early they completely leave you alone. i only one in bldg so i keep it maintained and clean so i don't get PM. Mgmt liked this so much they made me the resident mgr.after 3yrs. Not saying a neighboor didn't try to get me busted and have cops show on false pretenses. Didn't happen unfortunately for him and i found he was source of complaint. thats why you always gotta have that spidey sense going. i only got one pic for you today. Back to it .I answed some posts and got a little side tracked that and Superbowl. Pics today are the perpetual harvest . Raised all lites in flwing chmbr to max ht. 4 weeks to go so i'm going to mix nutes today and start using GRAVITY.Plnt on left is the star one on right is runt i never thought would make it this far She is really coming back from being stunted at wk3 as a clone. I don't name plnts but i'm calling this one Susan as in Susan Hayward in the movie "I WANT TO LIVE". Development chmbr are the 3 PurplePeopleEaters started in Jan on MLK day .There are a total of 7. These were put in dirt same day as others went into the hydro development tank 1-28. They are destined to go outside the end of March and they're being weaned on sunbeams. they're in airpots and will be transplanted 2-3 more times before the're life is over .A friend is conducting a regeneration with last years big out dr plnt. He says the root system was so well developed that this is possible. Maybe i've never tried due to lack of space. Anyway they catch sunbeams or are under the led.They are going to be huge. I call sunbeam catching "walkabout" .Hydro development chmbr 4 PPE's and 1 gen 4 big band clone that i have to pull.its just not keeping up and i don't have space to waste.the canidate upfrnt left side will get the spot g4 had little sister bk row will get big sisters seat. 4 weeks these go in flwring chmbr.next week they start getting co2 with every feeding. i'm trying to encourage them to preflwr before they go in flwring chmbr.Ulitmately i only need one maybe two super females to fill the chamber entirely so these all look good but i'm taking the 1st females i see and holding the rest back in case of herms. I will get into DESIGN next post

Before i finish with the computer i found some really choice old pics of my very 1st grow closet 1993 and my 1st grow cabinet 2001 and pics of how my current rig evolved to what it is now. that pic of the guy in the hall with a restaurant extractor on the handtrk. they're about to squeeze it thru a doorto the roof you can't see he's leaning on the door to my grow closet under operation and has no clue its there. pic of closet with door open 400wt lite ,drip irrigation .co2, pics of 1st cab site 2001 in the bathrm. this bathrm had enough rm to set up a rubbermaid garden tool shed which is what i made my cab out of pic of the inside of it using gear from 1993 closet. pic of current cab lit by 400wt with roof removed and lite on top as you can see that wasn't a good idea plant stretched and crowed it self out and i had to garden standing on a stepladder.i was using co2 and it happened FAST! pic of my 1st dwc system good concept. Modular .lift tray out of development tank...drop into dwc flwr chmbr ....plnts roots sprayed by tiny pump with spray nozzel attached 360 degree coverage one for each plnt. kinda a modified aero/dwc system and really cool looking.hey i live and look at this stuff allday long its gotta look good and yes...that is a framed print on the wall of my current flwr cab if you check back in some of the pics. Anyway i got some hard lessons. 1st 10gal a res is too much for me to handle even pumping it and its a lot of effort to mix that much nutes. 2nd. 10gal of nutes for 2 plnts a week is a waste. 3rd.yellow attracts bugs. 4.i didn't design in acess to the roots ,pumps and bubblers 5.because it was hard to acess tank i didn't check it enough 6.you need a big ass commercial air pump because if you don't when a bug get in there he won't drown unless that solution is roiling making waves not gentel swells 7.once bugs get establihed they evolve eat your roots crawl up them and then FLY !!! . Now its black on black 5 gal res with removable inspection lid,8''drip ring,big ass air pump,8''net basket,fine screen on air/water port. plug and play easy peasy mate! I hope i'm doing this in the right place i'm not getting any feedback as if you guys are diiging my thread or not.Ask me questions people

i don't really have any questions... your explanations are perfect... maybe use a return to kinda break up the words a little so i can follow along easier... but other than that... awesome photos... that one with the large A/C fan deal is really neat... cool to see how things have evolved...

the macro really isn't needed, i just wondered... most smart phones now have macro that starts automatically when you get mega close to a object it focuses better...

the return key is also the enter key on your keyboard... it creates a second paragraph.. it just breaks up the reading material so it does not look like a wall-o-text... but im keeping up... so like previously mentioned... keep up the hard work and the updates... your grow is super interesting... i like to read alot but only really post when i get to a computer

Tihspeed thanks for the return info i had absolutely no clue that it had another purpose .Today i would like to discuss my design and how it works for something you have to do all the time in Hydro...CHANGE NUTES.
I change nutes every sun. during football season and on mon. during off season.During the week i add 1-3 liters daily on the big plant and 1 liter every other day for Susan.Big girl always gets ionized wtr from the wtr store and so do the dirt .
The idea with the ionized wtr for dirt is you're trying to grow the plant but really you're feeding the microzai in the dirt building it making it strong. I don't use specialized dirt nutes i use regular hydro nutes but at 6.3 ph and really , really diluted with ionized water. Less is more .To that end i use a 1 liter watering can that gives me more control when i water

When i change nutes i have to shift 30gals...240lbs !!Thats a lot of weight for a guy that can't lift over 45lbs...can't get on hands and knees. It just takes planning. I didn't just wake up one morning and 'OH NO!' i'm disabled " it was a very gradual thing over 10 year period so i changed my grow style as my RA advanced and bought gadgets that could help me.
I'll give you an example. I used to do co2 and carry a tank up 28 steps to the grow back in the 90's by 2005 i had lost the ability to do stairs carrying a co2 tank and i had to stop.I use co2 at 1.5 lpm so a 20lb. content lasts me a real long time because i only use it during development i don't flwr with it. One day i saw on CL a co2 tank with a 7lb content ! I didn't know they made a tank that size. I rushed over and paid i think $50.The tank was brand new and matches my cab. The dwn side is that i have to drive to the plnt to get it filled and even though it will hold 7lbs they only give me 5lbs because the machine that fills it only meters it out in 5lb increments. I lose 2lbs and i pay the same price as a $20 tank at yer hydo store but at least i can handle it phyically and i'm used to paying $20 anyway so its all relative.

So basically this is how i do it. I use a two gal buket any time i shift water.For the development chmbr:
PLNTS go walkabout in a KB buket , I check the ph and ppm on old solution, open valves and drain into clear resvr buket, drain resvr buket with fluid transfer wand,close all valves,wipe out DWC tank, fill with filtered water from counter top, add bubbler,add nutes,ph and ppm, open valve to resvr tank,put modular plnt tray back....and BOB"S YER UNCLE!
Flowering chmbr is even easier.Plnt doesn't get moved.Using trnsfr wand pump some into cup and check ppm ph then connect 20 ft hse to trnsfr wand and pump directly to shwr drain both DWC.i use a 5gal buket to mix in and have my water in a 5gal jug with a handle.I pump the mix with my wand into the DWC and i'm done. Takes a leisurely hr that the girls and myself enjoy

I set up the Krankenhaus for the G4 and mixed a old school nute for her very lite and no Hydrogen peroxide.She don't like the Lucas Formula cause she was raised on a two part.Her sisters were stellar and you can't get BIG BAND anymore and if they are available (the seeds) they ain't going to be cheap. I'm going to end here hope i didn't ramble too much.Next time lets talk about problems you can have in working in your cabs

Nice little grow DR. I go to quite a few med.mar. meetings here. And I'll tell you I am quite suprized by the lazy folks out there that make any excuse not to grow. I have grown on closet shelves to barns. The ease of a small grow can be done by anyone.
Hydro systems scare me. Too much micro-management for me. I'm just too cheap, and unwilling I guess.

I am thinking the same way, as far as knowing that with my ailments and limitations.
I will eventually have to downsize sooner or later.

I am even talking about moving to a 55 or older trailer park one day. I will never be able to maintain such a large house(5,300 sq. ft.) on 8 1/2 acres. It's tough at 51 as it is.
This is also my first forum activity. Am fortunate to have such interest among the young folks.
I love to teach and don't socialize often. Years of growing has institutionalized me, kinda like a happy prison where you can come and go.
So this is just recreation with purpose.

Thanks for checking in SG1.Well i checked my hydro development chmbr and I can see i'm going to have a problem. These PPE's are taking off and getting big fast...just a little too fast. They could be males but i'm not feeling that. I'm feeling like i've got 4 very strong Amazons in there.
Same thing going on in the dirt devel chmbr . 3 in there just popping and i had to raise the lite .End of March is when those 3 go outside at a remote site where they will be caretaken .They'll be repotted at least twice before they leave here and i really only need one. You could say its a "HIGHLANDER" situation there can be only one.

Meanwhile G4 Big Band in Krankenhaus is showing signs of perking up now that she doesn't have to share light and is off the Lucas Formula nutes. Back to House and Garden A&B....the dirts get the same stuff but diluted with a different ph and they are responding really well.

Heres your basic problem why people are afraid of hydro in cabs. Your plnts can respond so fast you're not ready for it. In my situation i'm using seeds i got from a pro commercial grower for free. I knew they were sativia but i didn't know they were SATIVIA.These are going to be on the big side and i'm going to have to step my game up big time

I'm only going to be able to do a max of two in the flwr chmbr to acheive the max yeild.Now my normal proceedure is to start the flwrg with a 250 MH and after a week or two kick in the 400w and leds and finish with that.The 250 ballast only gets used for that short period.The two ballasts hang next to each other with that vent above them so the heat has somewhere to go. My pwer strips are connected directly to the wall outlet and i can SCRAM the entire cab by just flipping 2 switches.

After seeing LoveMyBudz cab with the cool tube i've been thinking about it. Now he does 400 wts in his cab.In one of my designs I did a250wt and then up to 400wt to finish. I used a vented hood sitting on top the cab and if you go back in the thread you see a pic of how that didn't work out. Got too hot and the plnt stretched right up to the lite so i gave up on that design,boarded up the holes and moved on to what i have now.

Cool tubes hadn't been invented yet or the early ones were absurdly expensive.Now seeing his cab has made me start thinking. I have everything in there allready. I don't even have to make holes all i need is the cool tube itself. Check the pics.

I checked prices online and $93 is doable. I'm going to check at my hydro store this weekend and see if they'll match the price. Todays pics are what i've been talking about

High everyone i'm afraid i've been rather remiss in writing this the last couple of days because i've been battling my Medi-Cal iinsurance for my arthritis meds. This battle has gone on for four months and i've been without my meds for that time. Pain level was at a manageable 4 on a scale of 1-10 when i started i'm now at a strong 9. Finally got my RX paperwork thru the system and theres nothing more for me to do. I have been bent, spindled, and mutilated....but i think i succeeded.

I've got a couple of potential problems with the garden right now. I'm not happy with the growth rate in the flwr chmbr.The plnt is healthy enough but i'm not feeling what i think i should at this point and so i've decided to end the LUCAS FORMULA and go back to my House and Garden nute chart .My reasoning is this is a GEN 3 plnt and all that came before it were on H&G and did well. GEN 4 was on LF and didn't like it all and now that its in Krankenhaus on H&G its perking up. Maybe the "code" is in its makeup for H&G

The PPE's love the LF but they are from seed and know nothing else and are sucking it up and getting kinda big.Its time for me to start doing some bending and maybe a little topping.

I've started the process of adding a cool tube to my hydo chmbr.I have all the flanges,fans,ducting,in spares/parts box allready. All i need is the tube itself that i've shopped out online for around $94 plus shipping. You've already seen my rant about the hydro stores ripping us off at the counter and of course they had to try it with me.

Now i'm proud to say i am one cheap frugal MOFO'..I don't get sticker shock !! I go OFF! 1st they're out of the free samples of Silica Shield so i have to spend $14 and buy a quart now that my plnts are strung out on it.The price of bubblers has risen 50 cents and i have to have them. I ask the guy about the cool tube and he says its $135 and i just dtetonated ! I AM NOT PAYING THAT ! Now they have to match online prices if you can find it cheaper than their price . Funny how their computer can find the site but not the item " i'm just not seeing it " .At any rate i paid my $43 for my stuff and got out of there but not before doing my "I spent less than $50 " touchdwn dance ala the Asian dude in the Southwest airlines ad. Excessive celebration of savings !

Tomorrow is big resv chng and i'll probally order the cooltube online. I'll have pics of all tomorrow.

Love your grow man. Im learning a lot. Sorry to hear about the insurance problems and a pain level of 9...damn..that sounds so brutal. I just had a kidney stone and I dont know if Id say it was a 9. Glad to hear youre gettin that sorted out. Cant wait to see the pics.

High everyone had a nice reflective night and i'm thinking i need to slow my roll. I was letting GC get to me...getting a little to enthused and inspired by what i read especially what i see. Kinda a Scarface situation you know where Manolo sees Tony Montana's sister for the first time and Tony sees his reaction and says " You no look..She's not for YOU!''I'm afraid the cool tube is just not a good idea right now money or time wise.

My cabs are built and work well the real problem is timing . I wasn't expecting these PPE to be so prolific and grow this fast so its a little problem that can be a big problem fast. I need to find out soonest who is a JACK and who's a JILL in both development chmbrs.

To this end i'm going to 12/12 on both chmbrs. I've bent the PPE's in hydro to the ht.of the smallest plnt and went back to H&G nutes. Nutes being drained were at 6.5 ph 1015ppm.New nutes 6.3ph. 1250 ppm

Flwring chmbr was Big Band 7.2 ph out 900ppm out. "Susan" 7.2 ph out 1200ppm out. Mixed new nutes for both at 1500ppm and 6.3

Dirt got nutes at 300ppm 5.8 ph real lite water..maybe 1 liter all 3 plnts and they are just rocking their airpots.

Krankenhaus G4 is running at 1200ppm 5.5 ph.
I thought the ph a little low so i raised it to 6.2 by adding a liitle up and fresh water to the mix. I'll know by tomorrow if i was right about changing nutes. I just wasn't feeling the snap i usually get. I'm not saying the LUCAS FORMULA doesn't work its just that i'm not feelin it. I was attracted to it because its cheaper and its in HT. I gave it a month and i'm done with the experiment and pulling out with no damage and wiser about info overkill

The pics are this weeks growth in all chambers, before and after bending. Those are adjustable curtain rods that i use for bending. I put the rod to the ht i want and bend the plnt under it. Done.

I'll buy a blkout curtain for the dirt chmbr tomorrow for around $12 and start the 12/12 for them tomorrow.

The timing is 8week flwring for hydro PPE's
4weeks more for flwrng Big Band (2) then PPE's go in
12 weeks flwering to go outside at end of mar for early summer harvest for the dirts
Pretty tricky scheduling but thats the fun
