I don't know, I don't really go to bars a whole lot myself. A few out here on the east side every once in a while, but they're mostly filled with douchebags who probably don't even own a book. ;)

I'd rather have peace and quiet when I'm reading a book, but I guess if you're only there in the hopes that someone will talk to you... might as well pass the time with something. :P

That's fucking weird, next time you see one walk up to her and be like, "This isn't the coffee house."

Yeah, what the hell? A bar is a terrible place to try to read a book. Maybe they want to be hit on and the book is an ideal conversation topic. What are these girls reading? If you know the book or the author or whatever maybe that's a good thing to break the ice with.

You might as well try to read a book in a movie theater or at a concert if you're going to try to read at a damn bar.

I'm a dude, but I go to the local dive every once in a while with a book.
The reason is actually very convoluted; deep; edgy. It is because (drum-roll) I like to get drunk, and I also like to read. Combining the two while getting the fuck out of my apartment rules.

Admit it, folks, I fucking fascinate you.

yeah, I usually see girls reading at "pub style" places, I guess....but at a bar with a drink. idk. it's not like they're at a table reading while waiting for food(which is something I used to do quite a bit).

I was hoping to hear from one of those girls who partakes in this activity, but it appears there aren't alot of you around the city.

Lol
Naw, I guess I can understand that.

Just me personally, if I wanted to read a book and drink at the same time, I'd be sitting in my apartment in the quiet or up on the mountain chillin' by the river.
And when I think about getting out of my apartment and having a drink, there's usually no books involved...

But I can appreciate breaking the social norms. ;):P

I've never seen a girl read a book in a bar. I don't know why people read in coffee shops? It's loud and there are distractions everywhere. I read in my living room or bedroom depending on which is quieter at the time.

Am I only one who thinks that's intriguing?

I mean..we all see plenty of your typical drunk girl at bar, talkin loud, stumblin from person to person, still talkin loud.

If I saw a lady reading a book in a bar..I'd be like "Now what the shizizzle is this?"

I'd step up and do some talkin..

BUT..here in reality land..they're all just drunk and ditzy. Ah well..work with what ya got right? :smoking:

I'm going to the library tonight with a 12 pack and a bottle of Jack to do a little research. Wonder if I'll get hit on?

I like the way you put that, my reasons are quite similar.

I've thought about busting a book out at my old stand by bar more than a few times... not because I wanna get hit on though- just to pass the time at my boyfriend's show, or because I'm bored (not a huge fan of bars)

I've yet to see anyone reading a book in a bar. That's just odd.

Might as well start bringing chess boards.
