I should've posted this back in January when I made it, but whatever--it's here now. It's shape resembles the chimney glass on an oil lamp, so the name Chimney seemed fitting. It packs a damn smooth hit, but it'll make you cough up a lung if you get greedy.
Hobby Lobby sells the glass as a candlestick holder, but I knew it was blown to be a bong. I ground off the top flange and drilled a hole in the bottom bulb to get the basics done.
The perc is a sample vial with eight 2mm holes around the base, with a stainless stem drawing air from the top of the lower chamber into the perc.
With 13 filtration holes and a few ice cubes jingling in the top chamber, I'm never let down by it.

ok. so i got pictures:
I tried to fit the metal to the glass again, but drilled the hole out some more and fit my vinyl tubing in there after i notched it. the metal tube fits snug in the tubing. and it allows just enough movement so the glass wont chip. I need to glue the copper arm to the glass or make a clamp out of it. it needs to do something.
I ground the outside of the bottleneck trying to make a different connection, so it has no purpose. but i think i will grind the inside of the neck, so the plastic slide will fit in there better. it puts a little pressure on the downstem, so the slide has some resistance.

UPDATE: upgraded a/c downstem Dec 5, 08

the metal stem only fit the metal slide, not the new glass slide. the glass stem fits both securely and airtight. the glass tubing is from test tubes, cut and polished. There's part of a paper wrapped inside there, holding the tube secure to the bottle.
It disassembles completely, except for the ashcatcher- its the only part that was glued since the metal/glass connection was fragile.
<img src="http://forum.grasscity.com/blogs/mcflyy/attachments/232d1226476132t-mcflyys-homemade-glass-metal-waterpipe-s1050621.jpg" class="thumbnail" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version

The only metals I used are stainless and copper, and the cork around the bowl is for insulation. The red cork is a synthetic wine cork with about 30 holes. I sharpened the droptube to hollow out the top of the cork. The same was done for the seal cork on top o the flask.
<img src="http://forum.grasscity.com/blogs/mcflyy/attachments/233d1226476132t-mcflyys-homemade-glass-metal-waterpipe-s1050622.jpg" class="thumbnail" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version

I had used the screen on the right for a while, but the holes are so small that resin clogs them up after a few bowls. the bowl itself is a cut 12gram CO2 bottle and the screens were the rounded ends of the bottles, thinned down and drilled. They wedge down in there without glue, and can be removed to clean/replace.
<img src="http://forum.grasscity.com/blogs/mcflyy/attachments/234d1226476132t-mcflyys-homemade-glass-metal-waterpipe-v3-ac.jpg" class="thumbnail" border="0" alt="Click image for larger version

The tube on the bowl and on the ashcatcher are the same size, so you dont need the ashcatcher attached to use it.

My old diffuser would put the smoke into a foam that would get to the top and dissipate, but it got clogged with ash. the screen helps prevent a lot of that, but some was still passing through, so i cant use a foaming diff unless i use an ashcatcher with it.

All parts were cleaned extensively, and no chemicals were used other than Gojo and the Krazy glue for the glass/metal connection in the ashcatcher (which is harmless once it cures).

peace
