Last night (3/11/08) I heard dozens of Spring Peepers and at least 4 Wood frogs while watching/listening to the American Woodcock show. Quite a cacophony!

As some may know, I am an avid nature lover and obsessive birder. I love the snow and the Winter... but I am more than ready for some brightly colored neotropical migrants!!


Since mid-February, I have been taking notes (like I alwasy do) on signs of Spring. For example, buds growing on a certain tree or a certain species of bird beginning to sing. (For those of you who don't know.... birds make noise all the time. But there is a difference between singing, and calling....

I posted these on another thread where I wasn't the OP but the responses are like less than 5. I want peoples feedback but I am against 'bumping' so I'll blog it up.

Both of these poems were written in 2001 in my 10th grade creative writing class. They weren't for an assignment, they were part of a school wide literary booklet with work voted on by the students.

The Panther

There is no pain
in meaningless laughter....

Isn't is ironic how herb buying works sometimes?? Yesterday, the day before and half the day before that my buddy and I were desperately looking for some herb. For whatever reason, my entire county was dry. Well, people I knew anyway. We both did the "scroll the cell phonebook" thing and still..... nothing. We even called dildos from highschool that neither of us talk to any longer. Still no go.

I work all day (7-4) at a career I 'ass-backed' into and when I come home, I want to relax. Friday finally rolls around and I am stoked. Two whole days to lay on my ass, stare at the wall, and watch my beloved Giants make fools of themselves EVERY SUNDAY!!!

So I pull onto my street..... park in my normal place on the street behind my house..... walk through the back yard to enter my house through the backdoor. As I approach my porch, to my extreme discontent I saw 8 bags of cedar mulch...
