Tug of Warmth

Bliss spewing unbearably, a la
Jackson Pollock in his prime;
Indelible urges
A strong submission conceived
Treading the eternal waters
Bound by the helplessness
of ill-conceived exasperation;
Partly cloudy, slim chance of rain.
Counterfeit.
Walls broken deliberately
Leap of faith, one leap
is all it takes
For better or worse
The sun still rises.

Xenophobe Airport
Hands shaking uncontrollably
I'm not cold
I'm not sick
but I'm not well

The walls scream at me with their whiteness
My eyes shy away from anything meaningful
My lips remain frozen and unmoving
My hands continue to shake

I feel so very little
The open crowds confuse me
the whizzing noise of the people as they rocket past
one another
like bees in a hive
One mind spread across many

My brain short circuits at the sight
I always drop my eyes
Try to remain anonymous
Swallow saliva into my dry throat

Get me out of this terminal
get me away from these people
Stop these shaking hands

Bittersweet Anniversary
My closed eyes see images of her
When they open they glimpse
her after a short drive
Her touch is so close
Her smile easy to find

Now we will be separated by pavement once again
By massive mountains
An ocean
and walls of concrete
I will see her in pixels
Hear her from plastic

One year ago in the hot August sun
we fell for each other
Who would have thought the next day
would be our bittersweet anniversary

The Moon's Face Frowns
In my dystopia the moon is wan
depressed and crying white tears
which stream across the sky

The clouds lumber along
like a beaten, old miner
shrunken by years of toil

The trees sway back and forth
unable to choose which way
to get further pummeled
by the unrelenting wind

Here I lay
on the cool, green ground
turning thoughts like a leaf in the wind
My frown growing
as I think of the times to come

Art
The sky resembles a painting I once saw
Clouds strewn about a hole-punched skyline of navy blue
Little candles burn in those holes
Shiny little lite to my eyes

The ocean looks like a photograph
Thousands of tiny waves rippling
Tearing the sand down
There is a sail boat in the distance

The mountains seem to be a movie set
Faded and brown
More like cardboard
then colossal piles of Earth

The world is fake
Only photos and paintings
My eyes gaze upon nothing else

My Love Slips Away
Words are softly but pointedly whispered back and forth
across the maroon sheets which we used to lay in so peacefully
At one time calm, surreal and content
they now seem stained with indifference

Now later as I sit thinking about the events of before
I am pained with dejection and shame
If only I was a stronger man to fight my own flaws
But instead I stubbornly refused to give her my touch

I'm a fool

Now worrying begins to overcome me
I told myself I didn't care about love
That it didn't apply to me
didn't matter
But now as I ponder losing what I once only dreamed of touching
I begin to ponder those words so softly spoken
"I love you" she said
"I love you" I responded
I hope neither were lies

Metamorphosis
Seperate me into my own little tiny pieces
Dissect me with the skill of a surgeon
Tear that psyche down until I am neither Ego or Id

Reconstruct me from sand
Rebuild my frame from stone
Lift me from the ashes

Show me who I am
Because I don't seem to know myself

gods
High in the sky the gods watch the minds of men
Always sifting through their thoughts
Weaving doubt
uneasiness
unhappiness
in their consciousness
But some minds are spotted
in a smoky view
and the gods
can only sense contentment

Raining Red and Blue
The falling rain reminding me
of how we fall on our own swords
We rise into the sky
forming brilliant shapes
massive achievements and fame
Then we lose our equilibrium
plummeting to the Earth

We think we are good
the exception among the many
Of the few but still just as evil
We cause disaster
ruining all we see

We build great wonders
at the cost of many small lives
Centralize for efficiency
then we lose our humanity
