Plate Design Previews..you know you want to look

I got a lot of work I'm doing for school, most of it I think is going really well. So I figured I'll scan a few of the designs I've created for the copper plates I'm engraving. I'm not going to add any of the text or commentary that will go with the final series, I want to know what any of you ( I know its a very small audience here, but I'd figure I'd try anyway) think these pieces are about, if the images are communicating the concept on their own.

Those designs aren't suited for plate engraving. Look up some on yahoo and get a good idea of what to use. You need like a swirling design with leafs flowers and the such.

thats good advice Metalace. fuck what my prof told me, and fuck all that visual and historical research I've done in printmaking. And everything I've for the past year sucks ass. I'm doing it wrong, I wish I would have known before spending hours and hours not knowing what I'm doing. cuz, obviously, this isn't working...

Very cool stuff Palmer. I'd say the first at the third are my favorites. I can't decide which I like more... Though I'm leaning towards the third one just because it's music related and that's rad.

thanks Junky, glad you like the sketches. my music image evolved quite a bit before I decided to do a self portrait as it is now.


I promise there'll be a lot of color Junky, my prints are going to be hand colored with watercolor or markers. editions of 10, each one colored differently. Any idea what it may be about? I've been discussing with my professor how much text I'm going to need, depending on if the audience understands my intentions or if they bring their own ideas about whats happening in each piece.
