The Dark Tower

Have any fellow Blades read the entire series? And if you have not or have never heard of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King, I urge you to run to your local bookstore and pick up the first volume. This is truly Mr King's best work and the entire series is just incendiary. And trust me when I tell you that it has the most fucked up yet awesome ending of any book ever. Please please please please go read it.

For those wanting a plot summary, it is basically about this man named Roland who lives in an alternate world. This world of his is "moving on" which means that it is slowly dying from the inside out. The only way he can save his world and repair the damage done is to make a trek to The Dark Tower to fix it all. He journey takes him across the lands of his world as we see the decay and damage done first hand. There are still living creatures and people but they are either mutated or turned insane by radiation. The series spans 7 books, each one a great testament to Mr. Kings once great writing ability (yeah "once great" he no longer writes at the caliber we loved so much with books like The Long Walk and The Running Man).

You need to read this series, trust me.

No, the book is not set in the horror realm, more of a Sci Fi Fantasy epic. Although there are a few moments in the series that will chill your bones.

This is hands down one of my favorite series of novels.

The graphic novels are pretty good as well. I hope they do more, maybe some different story arcs.

My best friend is reading them, I work at a library so I get the books easily for him. I think he is on the 4th book in the series. He said it was badass so far.

Just to add, I would like to say that this is the only book to have ever truly brought me to tears. Im not talking about a little misty eyed, I'm talking about full on sobbing. King offers two endings, the latter one being optional (basically saying that you can read on, or you can stop now and be happy). As I was reading the first and more user friendly ending I literally just started sobbing and could not stop for minutes, it was just so emotional and profound, it plays at your heart strings perfectly. I then proceeded to read the final ending (strongly against the advice of Mr. King) and after I finished it, I was not able to retrieve my jaw from the floor for weeks.
