edit-Hey man this may sound stupid but how do you get your images to post within your response? Do you have to use online storage to host the pic? Its probably something so simple, any help on this (from anyone) would be great edit-figured it out at last SUCCESS! Last edited by nps4474@yahoo.c; 06-08-2007 at 06:19 PM. |

hey man i am a nature photographer too. Here are some usefull tips off the dome to help you with MACRO nature photography.
1. Use a nice macro lens and use MF. 2. Shooting Macros decreases your depth of field, so open the lens to its widest setting to get your focus, then stop down as much as needed to get everything into focus. 3. Always use a tripod and a cable release/self timer on the camera. 4. For insects, try to make the eyes tack sharp, and generally the rest of the face. Lighting..... Using multiple flashes is best, but if you do not have to gear or knowledge to do this here are my tips.... Shoot on a cloudy day and set your flash (on camera) to be about 1 stop below the ambient light so it serves as a fill. This will keep you from clipping shadows and will also act as a catch light, putting a reflection into the subjects eyes. If you are shooting in dark sun get a reflector right up next to the subject to bounce some light back into it. A good method for photographing insects is to go out at first light because its cooler then and the insects are less active. Nature photography is a waiting game really, but when the action finally hits our mother requires us to act swiftly to capture the fleeting moment. Nature is never still for a photographer. |

The IR shots in particular. Did you have to rig up a DSLR to shot IR? Or or those just B& W prints? Very nice either way. I'm shooting with a Sony Alpha 100 and a Tamron macro lens. |
