Going to start doing graffiti

Alright so I've always been a crazy doodler, and just today I realized that my doodles are similar to some graffiti styles. Graffiti has always seemed like fun and I want to start doing it.

Here's a design I made earlier today...my first attempt at it.

I tried to come up with a tag name and I came up with DaynQ..you know, dank. What do you think of the name? Please tell me of any comments or ideas for another name.

Also, if you know of any good websites for graffiti I'd like to know of them! I'd love to hear from some people who do graffiti...any comments/suggestions are welcome.

Just to let you know once your really into graffiti you won't be able to stop it's pretty addicting in a weird way. I'm tagging anything I can get my hands on literally if you walk around my room you'll see a throw up or something small on every write-able surface.

And also,

don't get caught, if your painting and get in a situation witha pig don't stop running.

Hah sorry I'm kinda giving graff a bad name but don't get me wrong it's an aspect of art alot of people don't see or understand.

As far as websites if your in the US graffiti.org is pretty good, alot of their stuff has'nt been updated in awhile though.

Another good one for the West Side LA area 50mmlosangeles.com is a good site.

Peace-
lb89

P.S.-

The first link has alot of good links under the artist section, you should check em' out,

some people say the best advice to a new writer is "stop now".

You guys dont know jack about graffiti .. the only thing that keeps you in the game is a shut mouth and open eyes+ears. It is a very risky hobbie and alot of people don't understand it. If you havent had any type of interest in graffiti other than doodling I would say don't even start because it is so much more than that.. do your homework

First of all, if your going to start doing graffiti, which i doubt you will, you are going to have to learn how to do straight letters. Now I aint really gonna show you what that is, if your smart you will figure it out.

Graffiti is addicting man, I really wouldnt even start. I HATE the people who write because they think its cool and trendy, and don't respect any writer whos not bombing hard. If you want my opinion of your sketch and your name, I think they both suck. You need to come up with a word that you don't suck at(letters you dont suck at) and start doing your tags in basic lettering. You may not understand this but straight letters are dope and if your a toy and your doing straight letter tags and even if they aint that good but their straight letters and ur not trying any fucking extenions and arrows or your shit people will respect you. Get a nice little throwup you can do fast and easily and try to find a local chillspot to practice painting at....

I'm not even gonna waste my time saying anymore because I know you aint serious about this shit and I'm not about to try and put anybody on...

Graffiti can be cool, but vandalism isnt. If your going to do it dont do it on anybody elses property that isnt cool.

I never realized there was some strange sort of elitism within the graffiti community. In fact I never knew that graffiti had such a radical subculture.. awesome.

Graffiti is a HUGE subculture. And aaron l8n, real graffiti writers dont tag houses or anything. Might catch a tag on a mom and pop shop but thats as close as we get to homes and families. For the main part we just bomb anything people will see... Main streets, billboards, buses, trains, linespots, rooftops, construction spots etc etc

truth.

please please please dont do a few sketches and think you want to be a bomber or whatever, its the way you get caught cos you think your awesome when you first start doing it, if your going to touch paint, do it in places you know at first or with people who know it, ie : dont start running down tracksides lickin up random walls, because you will get caught. or killed.

word to what most people are saying.

sketch for about 6 months and you'll be a "decent toy". at least good enough to get up. you won't get any respect if you try to get up with something like that.

like the other guy said, straight letters are the way to go.

and, you suck until further notice.
not saying this as an insult, but don't convince yourself you're great when there are better people out there. just keep sketching and try your best.
just remember, stay in the books for 6 months or so. try to meet up with some other writers and ask them to help you. my first 4 months or so i got absolutely nowhere and then i met some better heads and i progressed a lot.

dont get in the game unless your prepared for the rest of it...

graffiti isnt just about goin out with a spray can and showing your art...

theres a shit load of politcs in graffiti...

dont start unless your prepared to get chased...and do the hard yards...

and you have some sorta style....my 11 yr brother is better than you...and i wont let that cunt go anywhere near the graffiti game

Eh..DaynQ is kinda toy, and as for the tag simplify it, cause you'll never be able to do that with spray paint
