I'm crap at libraries too!

My Mum and a few of my friends read loads so we can pass stuff along. I buy a lot of books at charity shops (cuz they're cheap and the dosh goes to a good cause) or secondhand bookshops. This works out well as when we've all read them I can exchange them at the secondhand place for more!

Charity shops are a great place to offload books if you're moving house, they weigh a ton and are a pain in the arse to shift! I remember when I came back to UK from Germany - I had close on 800 books to move - the removal men were not happy bunnies!

haha damn, next time you move and don't feel like taking your books, just ship them to me and i'll pay for the shipping

I never even heard of charity shops for books around, otherwise I would buy all my books from them rather then giving my money to corporations. But trading in books for more books sure sounds like a sweet deal to me.

I just started reading Coyote Blue by Christopher Moore and so far so good. Damn I love this guy, he needs to write more books.

Really? I bought this book a while back and suddenly stopped reading fiction - (it's been about a year since i've read any of my usual authors: Stephen King, Dean Koontz, etc.)

I thought i made a mistake, but i guess i'll have to read it I havent read anything by two authors working together.

BTW. has anyone read the Frankenstein series from Koontz and the other guy?(i dont remember his name) I was going to read this after Odd Thomas but never got around to buying it.

finally

Lots of tokers dont realize how beautiful books are, especially when stoned.

I recently read a couple of Chuck Palahniuk, he writes twisted stories...beautifully twisted I would say.

Stephen Kings Everything Eventual is AWESOME,as is Anthony Kiedis's autobiography, Scar Tisue.

Anyone else read these?

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

Great book. It has almost nothing to do with Zen or motorcycle maintenance; it's basically a crazy trip through the history of thought, all through the mind of an incredibly rational, intelligent biker during his trip across the country. Everyone I know who've read it have enjoyed it.

YES! It is.

Haha, kind of a related story, but I've been meaning to read Cell (Stephen King again, I'm a huge fan of his) but I haven't had the money to buy it recently. I had a dream this afternoon that I found it at a flea market for $2.25 I was so mad when I woke up and it wasn't there! Argh!

I just got the books,
A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore
Foop! by Chris Genoa
Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates by Tom Robbins
I already know these books are going to be good, can't wait to read them

And i'm reading The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde, so far pretty good, the author has a pretty good imagination and I like it.

I've recently started to read "Oryx and Crake" by Margaret Atwood, but haven't gotten very far yet. I don't get to read much other than children's books these days..the minion sees to that (he's 3 1/2). I suppose "The Earth and I" by Frank Asche and "Pancakes! Pancakes!" by Eric Carle would be the ones I read the most now... LOL

I just got done reading The I Chong: Meditations from the Joint.

It's Tommy Chong's book which he just came out last month, and why he's been on tour recently... I think it would be good for some people on here to read. But it wasn't quite what I was expecting, so I'm semi-disappointed, but he has some interesting stories.

I just picked up my new book to read, one I sadly havn't read before, Dracula by Bram Stoker... I've read the first half before, but never got to finish it, I love the writing style

I think tomorrow I'm gonna just read The Stranger again... it's a short enough book that I finish it in a few hours, but I think it's one of my favorite books of all time. So yall should pick it up

Great russian literature.
For those who aren't familiar with Russian tomes another good one to try is The First Circle by Alexander Solzhenitsyn
