What's going on blades? I've been researching extensively on different strains and there individual values as a medicine, due to my dream of becoming a bud-tender, and later *hopefully* a legal grower. Through my research, I've found that there are way too many people who still don't know the difference between an Indica and a Sativa; most of them not even knowing that Cannabis ruderalis exists.

    --------------------

The point of this 'guide' is to enlighten our newer tokers, especially those who are interested in using cannabis as a medicine. I would also appreciate any knowledge from my fellow blades because I know there is a TON of it in this forum. Any info, reviews on strains, mistakes I've made in this post would be awesome. :smoke:

    --------------------

    Cannabis Indica

    --------------------

My favorite out of the two, Cannabis Indica, is generally a short, bushy plant with leaves broader than that of a Cannabis Sativa plant. It is grown in some places for the production of hash, though you can still produce hash out of a cannabis sativa. I personally use Indica because of my chronic neck and back pain. I also suffer from anxiety so Indica helps me all around! Plus who doesn't love a nice body high at the end of a long day? :bongin:

    --------------------

    Afghan Kush Nug

Notice how the nug is dense and not a bright green. Indicas tend to be darker green, very dense, and packed with CBD[Cannabidiol] which is the chemical that gives you many great medicinal effects. It has been known to decrease anxiety, pain, inflammation, nausea in cancer patients and is even known to inhibit cancer cell growth!

    --------------------

Most people say the Indica high is very relaxing, and can give you "couch-lock"(being glued to the couch), and intense body highs. Smoking(or vaping) an Indica at night is ideal if you have a hard time getting to sleep due to: pain, insomnia, or a great deal of other symptoms.

    --------------------

    More Indica Buds

    --------------------

    Northern Lights Nug

A popular Indica strain grown in the amazing country of Holland. Expect to have a very satisfying, relaxing body stone when you smoke this beauty.

    Granddaddy Purple Nug

A heavy Indica strain known to alleviate Stress and Pain. Known for its 'grapey' smell and dark purple tones. Take a fat bong rip of this if you're ready to kick back for the night.

    --------------------

    Cannabis Ruderalis

    --------------------

Though not commonly used recreationally, Cannabis Ruderalis can be inter-bred with Cannabis Indica to combine the shortness of a the Ruderalis plant with the THC/CBD content of the Indica. Cannabis Ruderalis is famous for its ability to withstand harsher climates than Cannabis Sativa and Cannabis Indica. *More on Ruderalis later!*

    --------------------

    Cannabis Sativa

    --------------------

    Sativa plant

Cannabis Sativa plants generally grow taller, and have thinner, pointier leaves than an Indica. Many people medicate with a Sativa in the morning because of its tendencies to be 'uplifting' and make you energetic and productive. Many patients also report that Sativa's make you more creative and euphoric, making this ideal for patients who are depressed. Sativa's are also favored by musicians, artists, and writers due to its ability to induce incredible creativity. I happen to be a musician, and I love vaping a good sativa before i bust out the guitar and start writing.

    Sour Diesel Nug

One of the most popular and well known Sativa strains, Sour Diesel is generally light green with beautiful orange hairs. Darker leaves aren't uncommon on a Diesel bud. Many people claim it is the perfect Sativa because it doesnt make your thoughts run out of control like some of the other stronger Sativa buds, while still providing all of the other positive effects like creativity and euphoria.

    Green Crack Nug

    Alaskan Thunder Fuck Nug

A beautiful fluffy green nug, known for its super potent Sativa effects. Having a bad day or need to get the creative juices flowing? Hit up some ATF.

Jack Herer Nug (Thank you AcousticToker)

Another gorgeous fluffy nug, known for its superior Sativa effects. Patients with ADD/ADHD claim it helps them focus within just a few minutes of smoking. :smoke: This strain is also great for stress and anxiety. Expect to be uplifted by this glorious strain.

    --------------------

    Yummy! :smoking:

Note that nowadays, it is VERY hard to find a 100% Sativa or 100% Indica, probably even impossible. Patients refer to a plant that is considered Indica an 'Indica-Dominant' strain, or a 'Sativa-Dominant' strain. If you are not getting your MMJ from a dispensary, chances are the bud is a hybrid, meaning the bud will have the properties of both an Indica and a Sativa.

*This thread WILL be updated with any information I get from more research or any suggestions from my fellow blades!*

    Keep on tokin'. :bongin:

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Hopefully a mod will stumble upon this and make that decision. Thanks for the love though! :smoke:

*There we go, moved to Apprentice. Thanks to whichever mod did this!*

  4. *bump for additions*

  5. Nice guide, looks like you put decent effort into it. Easy reading too, hopefully will help some apprentices +rep

  6. Thanks, man. I'll try to return the love soon! Glad you liked my post.

    :bongin:

  7. Thanks for this thread, man. I've been blazing for 3 years now and have started doing it on a daily basis back in July but I never knew the differences between Indica and Sativa until now so this was pretty helpful!

  8. strain report seems like a good idea, is it comin to you from dispensaries or normal dealers?

  9. No problem, man! I'm just glad I am able to help my fellow tokers. :smoke:

@wondershowzen My roommate picks up from a grower and usually knows the strains. I am not fortunate enough to go to a dispensary because of where I live, but I'm planning on moving within the next few years!

Same here, I can't stand reading huge walls of text. Images are a must.

Speaking of images, I'm going to try and get better pictures of the Indica plant, the Northern Lights nug, and the Sour Diesel nug. They're way smaller than the other nug shots.

    Appreciating all the love guys!

    :bongin:

*Edit* Just put up some newer, more awesome nug pictures and a bigger, indica plant picture. It's so purple!

  13. Good ass thread. I had some nice dank last night and was trying to figure out what it was. This thread definitely helped. Mine looked a lot like the afghan kush posted above when under a magnifying glass. Looked up the traits of indica dominant weed highs and it was spot on to how i felt. Not saying I have some afghan but definitely an indica. Helped me find out what I like and what kind of high im actually going for.

You can also tell the different by the smoke that is coming out of someone's mouth while smoking cannabis. Indica usually has thick dark smoke, sativa usually has a more brighter colour and is less thick. Also Indica's hits hard on your lungs making you cough.

  15. Very great thread! This helped me alot. I knew there were two different types of bud but didn't actually know the difference in them until now. I'm more of the body high type so I guess it's Indica for me. But some good Hybrid is always good as well.

  16. Solid post man but your missing the King of Sativa's, Jack Herer!

  17. Very nice post. Clear, easy to follow, and it'll be quite helpful to a lot of people. +rep for bringing nug porn and herb knowledge together.

What a gorgeous nug! If you don't mind, I'll add it to the original post.

I'm really glad my post is helping some people!

*Added Jack Herer and some strain info to the rest of the nug shots. Enjoy!*
