Im moving for college in about 2 weeks and will quit my current job effective in less than a week because of the move (current work is too far away from where I will be going to school). I WONT be doing work-study, but I do want to just have a regular paid job and was thinking about working on campus, since I wont have a car anymore once I move there (I currently use my parents car, but since sometimes they both need it, I wont be able to have it with me). So I was wondering if anyone knew if there were typically drug tests for on campus jobs in college.

It depends on the job and the company you are applying to work for.

College students aren't treated any differently, so if it's company policy to drug test then they will.

That being said, Very few restaurants and bars will drug test. Serving/bartender jobs are always good when you're in college.

All depends on your college. Mine last year didn't, but this year I transferred and they do.

Well, I meant like working directly for the college, would the college test me? Im going to a school with a pretty big weed rep, so are they not gonna bother testing people, since they know tons of people would fail, or are they likely to test to do something about what they might see as a "problem."

Dude, none of us can tell you. We don't even know what school it is, or the potential job. They might, or they might not. Just call and ask if it bothers you so much, but don't leave your name.

If they do, then pass it with one of the sticky methods.

Yeah, like MrR said above me, without the name of the college, we have nothing to go on. As far as I know, we're still not testing, but if UCSB started testing employees, they'd lose a lot of the staff. ;) Princeton Review has the campus ranked #9 on their "Reefer Madness" list.

Well it sounds like you cant really help, which I guess I should have known. But, if it does help, the school is Western Washington University.

So quit smoking for a month. Big deal. Better safe than sorry.

Most don't, some do.

Stop smoking anyways until you find out for sure.

Call them anonymously and tell them you're a high school student writing an article for your school paper on colleges and drug testing. Try to get someone in Human Resources to answer.
