Getting my wisdom teeth pulled...

I don't really wanna take the vicodin, so I was wondering, would good old mj help me out with the pain at all? Like if I made some edibles because I heard somewhere that you shouldn't smoke right after you get teeth pulled. Any help at all would be appreciated!

edit: Then again edibles don't sound like the best idea for after wisdom teeth are pulled. Any advice?

Hahah yah I realized that after writing it. But is it ok to smoke after getting them out, or will that have some negative effect on my mouth/empty wisdom teeth spots?

You should've gotten a list from your dental surgeon that says what you shouldn't do prior to getting them removed. I don't see how smoking could cause any harm but personally I would wait at least a day just in case there is some kind of side effect from the anathestic.

Feel free. My best friend smoked all day when he got em pulled, no side effects for him. Just putting that out there.

I haven't gotten them pulled, and I'm just assuming they'll give me vicodin because my dentist told me thats what this surgeon usually gives. I probably will wait a day then as long as smoking isn't on the list. Thanks for the advice!

Edit: Last question because I haven't really smoked while in pain before. Will it help at all with the pain? I asked my brother and he said it doesn't help him with pain too much, but any chance it could with me? Since bud doesn't have the same effect for everyone.

I have to have my wisdom teeth pulled soon too. Mayb im wrong but wouldnt eating anything at all be worse than smoking. i dont understand why smoking would be bad for it all but im no doctor so... just take a couple vikodin and go to sleep if you wana be on the safe side (just taking one gives you almost no pain relief advil is better imo but thats only if you take one), truth is there prbly no need for pain meds at all.

Yeah it really doesn't hurt that much at all. You'll have some general discomfort in your mouth and eating will be troublesome for a couple days but other than that I am kinda surprised that vicodin is actually prescribed for it. I had all four pulled at once.

Yah thats what I was thinking but If bud will help me at all with the pain that'd be sweet.

The reason I ask is because a lot of people have stated that it is extremely painful while others say it isn't too bad. I just wanna know just in case.

you can get dry socket from sucking on a straw or smoking for a few days after. Just pop the vics or save em for later and be glad you got them. I got fucking t3s and it hurt like a bitch

smoking is bad because the suction caused when you take a toke or a drag really hurts the wounds, it can also lead to dry sockets which is very painful. If you're going to smoke, take gravity bong tokes since they dont cause any suction.

^ Dry Socket. They tell you not to smoke anything, but you'll be fine if you;

A. Smoke joints/blunts gently, dragging with your lungs and not the suction of your mouth.
B. Have someone fill up the bong with smoke for you.
C. Get shotguns in order to get high.
D. Take your pills and save the pot.

I got dry socket from smoking pot too soon after getting my teeth pulled, and it wasn't worth the extra two weeks of pain to hit that damn pipe a few times.

I just took a deep breath with the pipe in my mouth, so my mouth didnt use any suction at all. Also put some gauze over the wound

dry sockets are basically when the blood clot that formed in the incision is ripped out or dissolved. When that happens the bone beneath the tooth is exposed and extremely sensitive.
