Apprentice Toker's Guide to Bongs

Hey everybody. If I'm smoking a bong with a precooler (seen here: Glass Bong - Mid Section with Clear Precooler - Dutch - Grasscity.com), do I pull out the top slide, or does the entire precooler pull out? I want to make sure I know how to use one before I com across one. Thanks.

When smoking that bong, i would pull out the smaller slider from the top of the ashcatcher...just easier that way and less risk of breaking something. Plus that way you don't end up leaving a little smoke inside the "precooler"

SWEET! Looks like some one customized a Roor with an inline base and a tree perc(4arms? cant tell). There are generic no name brand plain inline base tubes that are/can be similar, and sometimes get a good deal like less then 3.

hey, my brother gave me his old glass bong a few days ago, its the kind with a slider and downstem. theres a bunch of resin in the bottom just above the waterline, and theres also a bunch on the outside of the downstem (the downstem comes out). anyways i was wondering if it was possible/a good idea to smoke any of this resin. my friend told me i should scrape it out and let it sit on a peice of glass for a few hours to dry out, then smoke it, but he's not a very reliable source, so im asking you. would it work? any health risks? thanks for your help!

Okay so I've only ever really smoked a joint before, one time, so i'm really new to this shit. Based on what my friends have explained, I think i've made a decent hommade bong, but i'm not sure. Someone tell me if you think this will work (cause I don't want to waste any bud)

Basically i drained a can of dr. pepper, let it dry out. I pulled off the tab on the top, cut a hole in the side. Cut off both ends of a pen and stuck it in the hole and made a little bowl out of tin foil with a bunch of small pin pricks. Then I taped it so that was air tight, and I cut another hole on the opposite side for the "carb".

If i put water in it, and tried to light up, do you think it will work?

dont smoke it dood!! if its a dinosaur water bong ,i mean old, its could have some nasty shit growing in it like mold and the resin will taste like shit when smoked ,not mention respirtory health risks too, jus clean it out, i would usually use a biodegradable cleaner like simple green or something like that.can be found at most supermarkets or hardware stores,get enough to fill past the resin line,might as well soak the bowl too in like a small bowl deep enough to submerge.let soak for like a day if its really bad.then i would dump sum really hot water in the bong along with half cup of instant rice plug the holes and shake it like crazy! rice acts like a scrubbers,shake till clean,rinse, wash out with dish soap and rinse,presto! clean like new!

might work , better yet gravity bongs hit better for diy's pipes,

FWIW, another downside to grommet bongs is the taste. I thoroughly cleaned out mine with iso / kosher salt (with the grommets removed of course) and when I hit it I can taste the rubber slightly. Its not that the rubber is melting, its just that the smell / odor of the rubber is somewhat noticeable.

You might want to add something about clearing the more complex bongs with A/C's, at least how you can clear it without having super crazy lungs.

1. milk your bong so that the A/C and bong are full
2. remove bowl from A/C and clear the A/C
3. remove the A/C from bong and clear the bong

Obviously if you have the lung capacity, it'd be nice to just cash the bowl and clear it through the A/C and then just remove the A/C, but thats not always possible for us less seasoned folks

Dont smoke that, it will make you ill if it is old....only way to go - 420 cleaner, works great!!

Very important bong note - Do not tip that shit over, if you spill nasty ass bong it's gonna smell gross wherever you spilled it. No one wants a bedroom that smells like bong water, or worse, if you spill it on them then they'll reek.

Question to you all out there....I am looking to buy a new bong, I want a clear glass bong with a slider, does anyone have any suggestions for a decently thick glass bong that doesnt cost a small fortune?? Thanks all!!

I have a molino mad scientist bong and the diffused downstem is stuck. I have tried cleaning it with alcohol and it still wont come out. Any suggestions?
And is there i way to take the percolator off for cleaning? I think i have v1. So there is no blue ring on top.
