That's true, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll happen (nor should it).

As well, it's not like the DH is a new thing. It was around in the 70s and 80s and 90s, when the AL and NL were more evenly matched in terms of All-Stars, and it was around in the 80s and 90s in the ASG too. As well, and especially recently, the games have been much tighter too, not like the 13-8 game from the late 90s or shit like that. Post-2002, most of the games have been one- or two-run ASGs.

If the DH didn't exist, that wouldn't be the case. And most often, the weak swinging occurs in pitchers from the AL or pitchers who played a majority of their career in the AL. There are several NL pitchers who can hit (Big Z, Micah Owings, Jake Peavy, Adam Wainwright, Jason Marquis, Yovani Gallardo, [in the past] Rick Ankiel, etc.).

Re: Baseball

here's to Clay Buchholz pitching a good game in Toronto tonight for the Sox. Looks like he's being showcased for a Roy Halladay trade.

That would be a pretty sick 3 man rotation for a playoff series imho.

Re: Baseball

Well, looks like the Phillies went to town on the Marlins.

This is a very strange year for my Fish. First, we're undefeated and the best team in baseball, then we start losing to everybody but the Nats (which is really no big feat), then we come back and fight our way back up to #2 in the NL East (because the Mets are so injury-prone, the Braves are having basically the same erratic pattern as the Marlins, and the Nats are the Nats.) Hopefully, the beatdown we received from the Phillies is just a temporary setback.

Showcased for a Roy Halladay trade?? What are you smoking?

Red Sox aren't going after Halladay at all, if anything they'll look to trade for Hanley Ramirez.

Lets go Yankees!!!!!!!

Re: Baseball

the halladay trade is going to be a tough one to make. if it does happen i think it will be with an NL contender. IMO

Re: Baseball

So, uh, who's seen the Erin Andrews nude video that just hit the web

Quote:
ESPN's Erin Andrews Victimized By Peeping Tom
July 19, 2009

Someone recorded video through the peep hole of ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews’ hotel room, without her knowledge, while naked. The video was posted on the Internet but has since been removed.

Andrews, one of the most popular ESPN personalities, covers the sidelines for college football, college basketball, college baseball and the National Spelling Bee, among other assignments.

It is unknown the hotel or date the video was taken.

Her attorney issued this statement: “While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future.”
It's worth checking out

It got taken off the 'net to my knowledge. ESPN and Andrews had lawyers all up on every site with some harshly-worded letters insisting on immediate removal.

Kind of...actually not kind of. REALLY shady how the video was done. Someone basically utilized a peephole and plopped a camera on it. Makes me glad I'm not a pretty woman, cause that shit would creep me the fuck out.

how do you know they aren't going after him?

why did they bring bucholtz up to pitch against toronto when the whole staff just had 4 days off?
what am i smoking? this is grasscity.. what do you think i'm smoking?

edit: i'm not saying they WILL get him.. but toronto scouts we're watching him his last start at AAA and then he pitches in Toronto.. so there's obviously discussion.

i'd imagine he'll stay put or go to the NL

Re: Baseball

Actually, the Red Sox are one of the suitors for Halladay. It was reported to be the Yankees, Brewers, Red Sox, White Sox and Phillies, with us [Illadelph] being the frontrunners.

And lol @ Hanley. If you think he's going anywhere, you're crazy. They're opening up a new ballpark in Florida next season (with a roof, thank fuck!), and since they've rid themselves of everyone else, Hanley is going to be the banner player, the team's superstar and cornerstone.

All of that is also besides the fact that Hanley is a product of the Red Sox farm system to begin with, and they're the ones that traded him (and Anibal Sanchez and another) for Beckett and Lowell.

Re: Baseball

yeah HR ain't going anywhere.. man what a player he is. Hard for a sox fan to complain about that trade though.. Beckett and Lowell have been great.. and they got a ring out of the deal.

it's good to see trades that work well for both teams.

Yeah, but at the same time, it makes me wonder if the Sox ultimately would have fared better with Hanley. But meh.

possibly.. but what Beckett did in that cleveland series in 2007 was pretty damn insane. Without Beckett they don't win that series imo.
