how does he do it? Before the game me and some friends were talking about how Dice-k will walk at least 2 guys in the 1st (he walked 3). He does it every game and gets out of it (almost) every time.
I don't think i'll ever feel comfortable with this guy on the mound. even at 18-3 and an ERA under 3 in the AL east.

I think it's just dumb luck that Dice can get out of those situations.

i was thinking the same thing, but after 34 wins in 2 seasons with a low ERA.. there might be some skill involved as well lol.
I'll never feel good about having him on the mound though.

Re: Baseball

Gonna be going to a decent sized party with some close friends tonight. Going to actually get drunk for once and get completely stoned, and then watch as the Sox stomp on some devil rays.

They also should never have sent out Beckett to work that last 1/3 of an inning or whatever it was. Did they figure he was going to magically regain his composure after being handed yet another lead? He does not have it this postseason and he needs to be moved to the back of the rotation.

Totally agree. Beckett should not have been trotted back out there after we got the lead back, I don't care what he has done in the past, he does not have it as of late, and he certainly did not have it last night, as hard as we fought to win that game, and this is the first time I've ever said this, but I was disappointed in Tito.

No offense but you obviously don't know much about baseball, pitching specifically, if you feel that way. Dice is one of the most talented yet precise pitchers around. Dice is always in control of an at-bat and a game which allows him to walk people if need be. Walking people only hurts you when you don't have the stuff to get the people behind the walks out. Dice makes no in-the-zone mistakes, if he misses he misses off the plate. As a hitter it's very hard to 1. distinguish between all of the different velocities and movements his pitches have from the same arm slot and then 2. put a good swing on them once you've identified them because his pitches are never in the middle of the plate, theyre on the edge or just off the edge. I'd much rather have Dice walk a lot of guys pitching the way he does than have him throw cockshots and hope the hitters don't square them up.

Re: Baseball

You're right, I am completely ignorant about all aspects of baseball, especially pitching, because my opinion of Dice differs from yours.

Maybe I should start watching cricket instead because this sport of baseball is completely going over my head.
