It was kinda expected I guess, last year was a great one for him, but he took some pretty good shots during the season.
No doubt he will be in Ohio in 5 years, I cant say I was a Farve fan, but I was a fan of the way he played the game.

Peace out Favre

Favre tells Packers he's retiring

Agent says Favre wanted to play another year but felt Packers didn't want him

Quarterback Brett Favre told Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy Monday night that he was going to retire.
But his agent, James (Bus) Cook, told the Journal Sentinel this morning that he believes Favre wants to play another year and didn't get the sense that the Packers wanted him back all that badly.
"It's my opinion," Cook said of the Packers' lack of interest. "I know he wants to play one more year. I do not know much conversation there was (between Favre and the Packers) and I don't think anyone forced him to make that decision. But I don't know that anyone tried to talk him out of it."
Cook said that Favre feels physically and mentally capable of playing at least one more year.
"I think he wanted to play," Cook said. " I think he's still got it. He knows he's still got it. I think he felt he could play one more year. I don't know if they told him they really wanted him to play. That's just the feeling I got."
Cook was asked whether he thought Favre could be talked into returning: "I don't know," he said.
McCarthy said recently that he and general manager Ted Thompson sat down during the bye week of the playoffs and evaluated tape of Favre to determine whether he could still play. McCarthy said that they came to the conclusion that he was still able to play the game at a high level. During the off-season, there were reports that Thompson had not done much to encourage Favre to return and that Favre's feeling was that the Packers weren't fired up about bringing him back. After reports surfaced of Favre's uneasiness about Thompson's lack of communication, Thompson told reporters at the combine that he called Favre to talk about the future.

He was kinda upset with the front office last year, I think he thought they had a chance at Randy Moss, & might have, but the Pack didnt seem interested. Sometimes, after giving so much to one team for so long, it would be nice for them to realy want you back, maybe not beg you to come back...but at least show some respect & interest. He has won Championships for that team, but its a business, & he's leaving with a bank full of Millions...so I guess they are even.

If he wants to play next year...he will, someone will pick him up. Maybe the big Tuna!?

Wow, this is big news

Who's his backup, anyway? Some scrub? Do you think some big free agent is going to get signed there? Are there really any besides Daunte Culpepper (who blows)?

Damn, that sucks... I thought after last season he'd come back for another but I guess not...

His back up is Aaron Rodger's, I think.

Top 3? No. But very close.
Favre won THREE MvP awards. More than anyone else ever has.
And he is a very respectful guy, great football player and modest.

It sounds like his manager just wanted to stir up a little mess. But I could be wrong. If that's true then Packer fans will have Thompson killed.

The packers are far from done for, also.. They still have the best receiving core in the league. (as far as yards go).

Brett Farve is one of the classiest guys in all of sports, and has the toughness and numbers to be considered the best ever, atleast for now.

I think Peyton will someday get that title. And we cant forget about Tom Brady
