Re: Best beginner hydroponic setup?

How much size do you have to work with, and are wanting to build this setup yourself ( what I would do) or buy a premade growing setup?

Re: Best beginner hydroponic setup?

Personally, I'd start out with DWC in a rubbermaid or 5 gallon buckets similar to: http://forum.grasscity.com/general-i...step-step.html

Rumple has an excellent guide in that link. You can use the same ideas with a rubbermaid tote and do multiple holes for more plants if you don't have room for a bunch of 5 gallon buckets

DWC for sure. Cheap and easy to build. Cheap and easy to maintain. If you use the Lucas formula you can get away without buying a tds meter but a pH meter is necessary.

i agree with both but tds meter is nessesery to monitor your ppm level, if you wanna save nutrients. but i would get advanced nutrients GMB. check out my grow i use diy 3 gal rubbermaids so my plant won't get to big. but i gotta update it.

Using the lucas formula won't require a TDS meter, he has done the math for us. Only pH needs to be monitored.

Re: Best beginner hydroponic setup?

^^^

LOL your both right IME.. if you do the "add back" method you do need a TDS..but if you do the "top off-refill" you do not.... I got "math" lazy ..and went back to the "top off" method.

to the OP ..

if your a DIYer.. then DWC buckets rocks..and Rumple has made one great tutorial for You.

if not take a look at the WaterFarm by General Hydroponics..for a straight out of the box solution ( they have an 8 pack that might suite you well)

other then that maybe some info on what kind of growing method you want to go with.. ie. SoG, ScroG, LST..whatever..maybe what size lights you intend to use. answer those and I bet your responces go way up.

peace

The last four threads I was in involved little bitch ass punks flappin at the gums. I found this pic on here and it reminds me of the last four people I interacted with.

Re: Best beginner hydroponic setup?

Clones from a reputible source or seeds germinated in rockwool.
3 gallon planters filled with Promix/Perlite mix or with Hydroton expanded clay pebbles.
With the Promix just hand water daily, sometimes twice a day.
With the Hydroton you'll need to place the planter into a 5 gallon bucket with a drain tube which would gravity feed to the reservoir which pumps solution through a drip emitter ring.
DWC is going to cost you $40 per bucket no matter how many buckets you do while other hydroponic systems become more economic with the more plants you do.

There are many methods to use, just research them all, understand how they work, and make a decision. I don't think anyone here is going to do it all for you
