I saw something pretty cool at Lowe's yesterday for those who want to SCROG but need access to the individual containers that your girls are planted in. It was like those tomato training support rings, but at the top of it was a 2"x2" grid. It was made of a thicker gardening wire and had 4 metal posts that stuck into the soil.

I tried to find a photo of it, but couldn't find the right description to pull one up.

I actually grew using the exact scrog you are talking about. It worked AMAZINGLY. I got 6 dry zips off of one mother plant scrogging it through this.

You can barely see the scrog in the picture, which is probably a good thing:



Someone else on here gave me the idea, I think it was rumpleforeskin.

I did scrog along chicken wires before. I thought it was too much work. Now I just weighn the branches with coat hangers untill the buds get heavy enough to keep branches leaning outwards. It seems to work quite well, and putting hangers on and off is easy. The hangers can get in the way of watering tho cause I like soil and I dont usually let my plants go above 2 ft.

Can you ScrOG auto flowering plants? If you can where would you suggest putting the screen?

Technically yes but in a practical sense, no. Since the veg and flowering times are determined genetically rather than by photoperiod, you will lose one of the biggest tools in ScrOGing. You cannot control how much screen it will fill. However, the screen can be useful in evening the distribution the light to the canopy.

Here is a couple of pics from my ScrOG. I used only 1 inch screen but will use 2 inch next time. Day 29 of flowering.

these plants look pretty large. how long have you guys let them veg? i let mine veg 2 months but it was trial and error. mine never got THAT big.

If you want to tweak an autoflower I would recommend LST instead. Like that other dude said you have no control over how full your screen gets. I have never tried SCROG on autos but I have tied them down.

I've been scroging for many years. I recently got my medical prescription and fell into a crowd ofrude people. well the rude people gave me the use of some nice equipment, but they tried to make me grow the way they wanted. I tried telling them that the scrog was the way to go. but they did not want to listen. So after a few crops of doing in the way they wanted and began to scroging, with out a screen. which can be done. Finaly (with thier displeasure.) I threw a screen over one plant. and Bam. I gained more then they could ever dream of. with one scrog (Which I had to grow four different ways due to meddeling bastards. I croped more medicine then they could with two rooms.! by the time I put the one plant to 12/12 it was the size of a large car hood. So any rude bastards out there that wont listen to the words of the wise... just get out of the way.

PS Now that things went south with the "Rude bastards" I steped down from two rooms with a combined wattaged of 8000 toa space that is 2' by 2' with a combined wattage of 400 and a 54, and I'm still blowing the bastards out the water

What might all your opinions be wrt scrogging w/t-5s... 4 bulb, 4' fixture, 20,000 lumens - have 4 of each bloom/veg bulbs. DWC w/2.5-3 gal. res's.

Would like to grow two seedsman white widows this way... if it turns out well, would like to grow a couple of barney's farm g13 hazes also. Recommendations on building the actual scrog itself in terms of height, i.e. how much space between base of plants and screen? Wondering if it might vary depending upon strain.

It depends on the pre-care you give. If you build the plant from day 1 to be the best it can be FOR A SCROG, than it can be quite low because the plant will be low and spread wide.

I top the hell out of mine AND do 4-way lst to build plants specifically to scrog. My frames are built at 15" so I can fit any plant in there. If one isn't as tall, put something under the pot to raise it to the camopy height.
