Re: Germinating with Sure to Grow 1.5” inserts

I'm not ready to post pictures, but I have my first root out of the net pot.
It looks like this S2G will work.

Not necessarily, the bud looks almost ready to smoke, like it's already cured.
Still have hope that it will re-veg and something will grow.

But the fact that I forced a 5" square into a 4" round net pot, and roots have made it thru the S2G is a good sign.

But, on the other side of the fence, at the same time, I took another clone with 2-3" roots and put it in HT and a 4" net pot & I had roots penetrating the net pot immediately. So if time is more important, I'd go with the HT. If you "have to" avoid HT this will work.

I can see this being beneficial if you cant physically carry or ship HT. Like if your doing a stealth indoor grow or live in a Manhattan high rise situation.

hey 77 - does that stuff wick water?

if the bottom of a block was submerged in nutes, would the top stay wet?

I'd have to say it does, as compared to RW, I'd say the S2G would be a bit wetter on the bottom & a bit dryer up top.
Which would probably be OK, cuz we don't need as much water up top as we do on the bottom

Re: Germinating with Sure to Grow 1.5” inserts

Wow.... I thought its been longer than 8 days, but this is all I got.
One root about an inch long.
I never top watered, but the bubbles splash onto the S2G, so its wet.
the top is also not getting full light cuz the other new Widows are taking over the veg tent.
I think this will get thrown away the first of next week as I'll need the room for other babies.

I see some gorilla roots on that other plant, though. Jesus...

The S2G would probably have worked if it was used it like rockwool, by keeping it up from the solution and it not getting saturated.
Sad to see her go, she was a pretty little thing.

this was an experimental plant right?

and that is a massive root clusterfuck on the other one, nice job!

what do you feed them? (your roots are nice and white, the fnb I use stains them brown pretty fast)

OH YEA
This was just an experiment
I feed them Advanced Nutrients MGB just like my others.
AN are easy to use and if you stick to the formulas you never have a problem.
The others in the bucket have been there a little longer. I've played with them, taking cuttins for clones, LST, topping, talking mean and even playin country music to them & they still grow!! I cant hurt them.

Re: Germinating with Sure to Grow 1.5” inserts

I'm still experimenting...
I seems likes it been months but looking back on my own journal it has only been weeks.
So here is today.
The top looks like....the leaves that are in the actual bud have grown a little. They got greener and it may be that the bud is tryin to find a way to put out new growth up top.
For a while this was so covered by another plant that was veggin I'm really surprised it got any light
I have many roots that made it thru the S2G. One is long enough to have an inch +/- in the solution.
Next week I'm going to need the space for new clones so this will experiment will probably end.

Re: Germinating with Sure to Grow 1.5” inserts

Last Final update on this
Here is the top, notice 2 new branches starting to come out from the bud, This is going to live!

Here are the roots....

Now here is a dissection of the S2G cube, notice what appears to be a root rot? or just brown roots?
But this was still able to get past the rot & put roots into the water & start new vegetative growth.
So my verdict is, this is something to use on a regular basis.
I'm done!

10/6 I took this out of the clone machine with roots & put it into the first 1.5 x 1.5 cube. So just short of a month, but a long month it was...plus it was prolly in the cloner for 10 days too,
