Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

My question is, how did your plant grow so perfectly square, like i know how you got the two stems from fimming but where did the other two stems come from?? (I'm talking about your original + where u first staked them down. Like will every plant be that symetrycal? Because you see a bunch of these other grows and there stems are a good inch or 2 before they even grow the first set of leaves.

Edit: What kind of soil are you using? If not a specific brand, do you have a recipe?
Also, how do you drain the water that comes out the bottom of your pot?

Again, to get it symmetrical, pinch the 5th set. The 4th set forms the other 2 arms as they are the next 2 arms to turn into branches. They are slightly skinnier than the other 2 but work just fine.

Using straight Fox Farm Ocean Organic soil

These pots have a build in catch tray on the bottom. I wait till the water finishes saturating through and tip the plant to dump off the excess from the tray.

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

Hmm, i think i may have to try this method as i only have around 2 feet of grow space (5ft total, but anywhere from a half foot to a foot for the HPS light, 18-24 inches in between light an plants, plus a foot or so for the pots)

So if i did this method i may private msg you on some questions i have if thats ok.

I will probably get it started hopefully with in the next two weeks to a month. Do you recomend any strains for this training? More indica, more sativa? a mix? I would think more on the indica side but idk.

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

I love this style of LST'ing, works great. I've noticed that the LST'ing allows more light down into my plant where little light would normally get. The branches that are tied down seem to grow faster because they have downward force against them (with the pins) forcing them to reach for the sky.

Any strain will work, some just respond to the LST'ing better than others.

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

I'm doing an outdoor grow and tried my first time at LST'ing. I'm still not all the way through as NOW I have to resize my greenhouse about three feet wider to compensate, plus LST a few more branches but the fatigue from Hep-C has me ready to shower, eat some benzo's and sleep for about thirty eight weeks.

Anyway here are some pics of the LST. Look about right?

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

I have a question for you, how long do you veg for while LSTing? When do you switch it to 12/12?

Thanks in advanced!

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

This is MY first time with LST, and this is outdoors, but from pics I've seen and other pople who I've read posts from, the 12/12 cycle goes on when ever you think you have enough growth points to produce the yield you want.

I'm just re-vegging my Hawaiian indoor stuff and will start following this tutorial with that variatel most likely within a month.

Personally, I wait it out till the plant show maturity on it's own, if possible. At least, that was what triggered me to switch these over on this particular grow. It was 8.5 weeks and then I found pistils on all of them. Time to bud

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

The longer you can wait, the better the yield potential. It IS acceptable to go right to 12/12 but you'll be lowering the yield dramatically.
