Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

Hello LBH!
Do you think this method can be used on older plants or do you have to start when they are seedlings?
Your plant looks really bushy and healthy.

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

Well, the big factor that makes this possible is pulling that 5th leaf set. By doing that, the main stalk turns into a "Y" very early on so a few weeks later, you essentially have 2 main stalks to bend down.

By then, the 4th leaf set has also developed into the 2 lowest branches. Those make the 2 other arms you bend.

So no. lol

You'll notice (in pic 2) that the branches (stalk now) from the Y are fatter than the 4th leaf set arms. That's because they (were) are from the main stalk.

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

-------------------------------------------------

Disclaimer- I am a complete rookie but have always had a way with plants. This is stuff I am trying just because it "seems" to me to be common sense,...or,....it's what the plant is telling me as I stare at it for hours on end, lol. Seriously, if "watching" them made them grow, they would be ashes in the ashtray by now, lol. Honestly though, if you follow my advice, please know that this is "what worked for me", but doesn't mean it's the right way. I'd hate to have someone follow my advice and fuck up their grow. Y'all have been warned, lol.

-------------------------------------------------

Washedmutha- The plant will be 8 weeks old in a few days and she brought us signs of maturity yesterday,...PISTILS!!!

So,...I have no idea if you can continue topping once you have buds, perhaps a senior grower here can help answer that one.

Vin- If you can shoot me a pic, I can give you a better answer, or I should say "opinion" because again,...I'm new to all this, a real rookie.

Here are a few pics of the pistils I found on her yesterday and for some more good news, I figured that since the other plants in there were planted in the same week, I'd better keep an eye on them as they WERE NOT feminized seeds. This morning, to my absolute GLORY,...I found pistils on all 3 remaining plants!!!!!!!!!

It's a good day here folks

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

It's a girl! Sweet, do you think if i chose this method i could LST to around the last picture of yours and then let it grow upwards into a SCROG, or is it fine without a screen, because how much do expect it to stretch now that it is in the flowering stage?

Well, I've been giving that one a bit of thought myself. I have 3 other bagseed plants going, all under 4-way lst. They aren't quite as buxom as the PE but they are pretty impressive just the same. Anyway, back to the point, I plan on scrogging these 3 starting tomorrow, or the day after. This morning, they showed me pistils (4 diff strains and they all show pistils within a day of each other!! Time to bud 'em )

Stay tuned

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

ok, so check this out. Speaking of the bagseed plant,.....Below is a pic of one of them that developed a rogue, runaway arm. Notice my solution, I simplycurled it over into a spot that was vacant. We'll watch this one to see how she develops, she'll be going to 12/12 by mid week

Close up

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

Now I'm sitting here pondering and as I think ahead, I know for sure I want to use bigger, shallow type feed buckets for my next grow. If this arm works out, think about this. IF this plant were in a larger bucket AND IF this arm works out, I could have done that curl to all 4 branches, keeping it even more compact. You guys following me? each branch would get pegged and grow to the rim and then be curled to grow back towards the center before being allowed to grow upwards. This would be a SUPER bushy plant with the weight (once it begins budding) centered over the main stalk.

ESPECIALLY the taller, lanky Sativa's

Thoughts?

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

So let me see if i'm understanding this correctly. You have already done this + to your plant and once its grown outwards you want to bring the ends of the plus sign back to the middle so that they can start growing up in the middle? Not sure how thats guna work but really looking forward to seeing the results

Re: LBH's 4-Way LST tutorial (w/ "topping" sub tutorial)

Now that i think about it this could be pretty cool.

Untitled.jpg

So the four red circles are where the plants would be after you bent them, and then you would just take all the stakes out and let it grow? or do u keep the base stakes in?
