1 plant 2 pots?

I was having a few smokes a while ago and i came up a weird idea!
if i trained a plant to grow up in a loop and back down again and then 'top' the plant and dip the open cut in rooting hormone and place it in another pot.The plant should bush out more and it should grow a 2nd root system too!
Ive read about a technique to take cuttings which grow the roots on the plant itself and then cut it off!
Would the plant continue growing in length? or just bush out more?
I know this is a fairly bizarre idea,but is it possible?

I've heard about something like that.... I think it was on something about making wine or something.... I don't remember all of it, I was a little too drunk.

I wonder if that would work... it's a pretty cool idea. But why don't you just cut a clone and start another root system from the same plant that way? It'd be a lot easier.
