That said, I'm sure you know how thrilled I am that you're willing to try this. Accept the possibility of damage, and proceed by avoiding it, right? Who knows what you might come up with, this is truly pioneer territory, cause not many people are willing to up the amps risking their plant's health. Progress, though, comes only through experimentation, and experimentation includes the notion of risk. Be sure to get back with the results if you try this, mate, will be waiting for 'em. Good luck! ~Dug

It seems to me that the Plantricity guys are using an EMS device (Electronic Muscle Stimulation), although they call it a TENS device. I have built one before (an EMS device) and it output 550mW max, 55V@10mA, at a maximum of 80Hz. I could easily modify it to change its output, but only Pulse Width, Frequency, Volatage and Current. Making different waveforms would necessitate a completely different design. Albeit not difficult as I have built a waveform generator (1Hz to 1MHz/Sqr, Tri, Sine) before, which might be perfect for the Ultrasonic Frequency testing in that other thread. There are lots of things I would like to test, for instance, would a sine wave or triangle wave be better than a square wave since the change isn't so sudden/violent? Or how about placing an electrode at the bottom of the pot and using an acupuncture needle as the other electrode in various parts of the plant, like the top of the main stem or main branches? More research is needed, and some proper testing is needed. |

Interesting article, noob closet grower here with 4 pots in my closet with a 125w dual CFL, but will be adding more light in 2-3 weeks, thery're about 10 days old and I'll be more than happy to attatch some cells to two of the pots to see what happens. Bit short of cash at the mo' but should be able to add the cells in about 2 weeks, will update as it happens. Happy growing folks |

I followed the link and the only thing I saw related to this topic is ... "one more thing you might not know is that I'm using electrical stimulation to boost my plant growth as well." and below that you reference a picture. I couldn't find that picture. I'm just wanting to confer w/ some one else before I began posting my research results all willy over the web. Could you give us some details surrounding your setup(Volts/Miliamps? did you use a Photovoltaic cell like the OP? Thnx.

yea i didnt go into great detail because its all described on this post i was just making it known that if you want to see how this affects a plant then you should check out my plant. I dont have the details you're asking for though because i simply did as this post explained and bought a lawn light thats solar powered and removed the cell then extended the electrodes and placed them about an 2 inches apart 1 inch away from the stem and about 2 inches into the soil so far the plant hasnt stopped growing its just non stop every morning that i take a look at her i can visually tell that shes grown I'll get some more recent photos up soon so you can see just how much its grown in the past 5 days and my plants only 18 days old and it has grown a lot compared to previous grows in such a small amount of time |

Great Info guys! I'm still working on getting my setup completed, but i'll be adding PV's to my DWC grow in a month or so when the cab is complete. Dug, thank you. Your threads really are making the inner geek in me interested in learning more |
