It is a very good investment.
Yields will increase and you can use less nutes.

Here is a nute load chart.
Take the mfg recommended max amount and cut in half.

...............NUTRIENT LOAD CHART AS A % OF MAX ALLOWED DOSE.

My question is, when using a hydroponic set up, what are the most efficent types of Nutes to use, what brand, and more specifially, what bottle(s). Im having a very hard time understanding this one concpet of hydroponics. Im trying to do as much research as i can before i start my bubble bucket experiement, and i know that Nutes are one of the major factors. Its just confusing to me, so anyone that can help me out...its much appreciated.

K I have a question:

I have a hydro system setup now. But does it matter how big the net bucket/cup thing is? Mine are only about 2" wide. Will this stunt the growth of my plants?

Here are the nutes I recommend.

along with some supplements.

Get some accurate measuring tools

You need to adjust the pH

You need a good pH meter.
Pinpoint or milwaukee on ebay.

And don't forget to calibrate your meter every month or so.

Questions about Hydroponics

Hi guys, sorry I didn't see this post before I posted one of my own. But I'll post it here as well:

I was wondering if I could use the LST method (http://forum.grasscity.com/absolute-...-training.html) in a water culture Hydroponic system (http://youtube.com/watch?v=irhvCcGpH5w).

Also, if I did do this method of growing, here're some questions:

1. What sort of light do I use?
2. How do I hide the smell?
3. Does it use a lot of electricity?
4. Most importantly, is this a good idea? And if it is, why is it a good idea? If it isn't, then why is it a bad idea?
5. If using the water culture system is a bad idea, what form of hydroponics should I use?
6. What kind of fertilizer do I use? Can I use tomato fertilizer?

Thanks a lot to those who answer my questions! =)

PS. I have AIM, so if you guys want to IM me, that'd be cool too. My SN is: aznchimasta89

There are several reasons to choose hydro.

1 it grows faster.
2 you have better control over the root zone,
so it grows faster.
3 it is easier to adjust the pH of water than soil,
so it grows faster.
4 water is cleaner than soil in your house,
and it grows faster.
5 hydro is actually easier to do than soil,
and it grows faster.
6 yields are higher,
......
7 end of grow flushing is easier in hydro,
.........
8 it grows better weed,
faster.

Cons are
you need a lot of equipment/money to grow hydro.

Meters and RO machines, pumps and tubs.

You'll need hydro nutes
and additives if you like.

But then you'll have better control,
and it will grow faster.

Flood and drain tables are designed to automate the watering of your plants.
Since this is done in soilless mediums,
it requires hydro nutes.

Here is a graphic illustration of a flood and drain table.

The nutes are pumped up to the flood table,
several times during the day,
and drain back into the rez.

This action pulls oxygen into the root zone,
while maintaining enough moisture to keep the plants from wilting.

It is a good method of hydro.

After reading up on hydroponics I have become intrigued. By the sounds of it, and please correct me if I'm wrong, it is possible for plants to grow faster and produce denser buds. The question I have is what makes some hydroponic setups superior to others...is it costs to set it up or have to do with how well the plant grows?

I plan on trying to do a small hydro closet grow. The dimensions of my closet are as follws:
Height= 64"
Width= 28"
Length= 36"

Although I have successfully grown with soil in this same closet, I'm wondering what the best hydro method would be. I was considering the wick method because it seems like for the space, it would be the most efficient way to go. As for how many plants I was thinking along the lines of around 4-5. Which brings me to repeat an earlier question, will this produce as good of bud as another method? Or would something like ebb and flow work better? I am not worried about initial costs.

Thanks for any help and advice.

I am currently growing in the same size closet. Personally I would do a DWC (Deep Water Culture) I am using a rubbermaid roughneck 10g tub with provisions for 6 plants I can easily fit 4 of these in my closet. The cost is imho the lowest. All you need is air pumps, netpots, and light proof tubs. The tubs are pretty maintenance free and the results are great. For larger plants you can build 5 gal bubble buckets (see rumpleforeskin bubble bucket sticky) and fit about 4 in your closet. However the growth is so explosive that you will probably want to have 2. (they will yield about as much as 6 soil grown plants). See Rumpleforskin's WW grow thread it is pretty kickass!
