just getting started.

well i recently bought a light setup, 400w HPS lamp and ballaster running a 400w MH bulb. although i have never grown before, i have read up enough to feel confident enough to give it a go. but when it comes to electricity and lighting im kinda cunfused. well i had my basement re-wired by a friend so im not worried what type of power im pulling down there, so i guess you can say my question is directed twards the light issue:

With my setup is there any other lights i might want to purchase for either the flowering or vegitative stages to promote more growth?

here is a picture of things....

Ec

Can I get any advice on nutriens levels, through all phases of grow?
If possible could you give us EC values to avoid ppm mess ups?

Yes hydroponics is not an easy sport.
At least not for everybody.

Month and a week trying, and no succes. They should have been ready for flowering by now...

I only count 4 plants and that light should be suficiant for all of them. I would move it closer to the plants. 12" maybe. But watch out for those rez temps. If they get to high those plants aint going to grow. If they do start to get high freaze some 2 liter soda bottles and toss them in the rez.

help

Hi all,
Hi, I just got my ebb and flow set up today but i'm also a little confused. I have 16 small plastic pots with holes in the bottoms. I think what I have to do is germ with the papertowel method, then when I get a tap root started, plop that in cube, and put the cube in the white pot along with the coco fiber. Then If I am right, I start my light (HPS 600) on 18/6 and flood the tray once a day. I am unclear on the nutes too. I think I have to add the base at like 3.5 ml per gallon and the grow at like 4 ml per gallon. I was so afraid of even setting this thing up that its been sitting in the room untouched for like 5 months! Ok, I'm ready! So can anyone tell me if I'm on the right track here?

Think I did ok

Hi again,
I think I did ok with how I started things. I didn't put any nutes in the rez, just ph'd it. I did let the pump turn on today, but realized that is gonna be way too much for my beans to start. I will just check them a couple times a day to see that they are moist. I did notice that with the coco mix, alot escaped into the tray, so what I did is put a knee high over the two pipes. I'm not sure though what to tye them on with because I don't want to mess up the ph, any suggestions as to what to use to tie them on with? I have few days atleast before I need to use the pump again.
I just read all the posts here and wow! I learned so much just here. I agree that so far, this has been a journey of reading, reading, reading then reading some more! LOL I have grown in soil outside in pots with no nute nor ph monitoring, and each time was not bad! I think once I do a few of these hydro grows, with their trials and errors I'm gonna love this!

was wondering if anyone here can tell me what cf level MJ likes the most. i know that more dormant plants like it less and more vigorous plants like more and not to ever exceed a reading of 30+. i cant seem to find the electrical conductivity factor for MJ anywhere and i would really like to know b4 my seeds sprout.

check out advanced nutrients' website. they have a whole line of different nutes. they even have specific nutes for different grow media ie: coco coif, rockwool hydroton, tey are the industry leader for sure and if you are really scared they got this shit called sensi pro that comes in pre mixed foil pouches that are set up week by week, easy greasy.

i use a drip/aeroponic setup for my mothers since they are in constant veg, i like thm to have lots of oxygen to the roots and keep my No2 up, for flowering i use ebb and flow all the way since i am flowering 4 to 6 ladies every time it is just easier to put them all in the same bin and feed em the same shit. i always keep just two mothers on hand and clone no more than five gens before budding the mommies. but before you bud the mothers be sure to get two more started at least two months in advance

12/12

Well, I have 3 plants that germ'd on 28th of Dec, and I'm about to start to flower them in 12/12 next week. so that's 7 or so weeks of Veg. this is my first grow, and I just did bagseed, but now that I kind of have an idea of what I'm doing, I'll start 12 Fem seeds out at the same time and I think I would let them veg a couple of weeks longer to increase yield since I have enough room for them to get big.
