First Since your going to be using the GH flora series nute I highly suggest you look up the lucas formula.this brings us to your second question."How often should I change the reservoir and are there any special techniques to doing so?" When using the lucas formula it isnt nesasary to change your res the entire grow.though if this makes you uncomfortable once at the start of flower will be fine.cleanse the res well with a heavy solution of hydrogen peroxide then refill. Now back to your first question."How often should I have the table water my plants? Is there a typical recommended watering schedule for ebb and flow? Does this schedule change with the development of the plant?" Yes it will change with the development of the plant and will rely mainly on the medium used.I prefer hydroton.I flood once evry 4 hours During lights on to begin with.and work up to once every two hours.water holding mediums will require less waterings. Alright back in order now.3rd question was"Is flushing necessary and how would I do so?"If you use hydroton as your medium and the lucas formula as your feeding schedule then there is no need to flush at all ever. But again water holding mediums may require flushing.I prefer a method known as a low EC flush.basically you flush with a light nutrient solution.this will still flush excess nutrient salts without dropping the osmotic pressure to much and stressing the plant. question#4 " 4.) Is an airstone recommended in an ebb and flow system?"Strictly speeking...No A air stone is not required with an ebb and flow table. When the flow cycle has ended and the water begins to ebb it actualy Draws a larg amount of oxygen strait into the root zone supplying plenty of DO directly to the Plants. Now having said that I still recommend a air pump and stone for your res as it keeps the res from stagnating, and delivers even more DO to the plants. which is never ever a bad thing. And #5"Would fizzy CO2 tablets be recommended for use inside my reservoir? Would that serve any purpose at all in an ebb and flow system?" No. Co2 is good for the foliage not the roots. The rootzone needs oxygen not Co2 Heres a link thats taught me more than I expected to learn from a single thread https://www.cannabis-world.org/cw/showthread.php?t=892 Good luck bro.

As long as your last watering period falls just befor or just after lights out you realy shouldent need to water during lights out. When you get to 12/12 I would just switch to flooding evry two hours during lights on.again they will be fine during lights out.but you want to flood either just before the lights come on or just after.and work it so your last flood falls just befor or just after lights out.

First - Many growers recommend 24-48 hours of darkness before harvest. If I were to do this, how would it affect my watering schedule? Second - It is widely recommended (in soil as far as I know) to stop giving your plant nutes a week to two weeks before harvest. How do you approach this in a hydroponic setup? Is this necessary? Thanks for your help. |

I use GH nutes lucas formula with floralicious plus and green fuse bloom...
1.) How often should I have the table water my plants? Is there a typical recommended watering schedule for ebb and flow? Does this schedule change with the development of the plant? I water every 2 hours in flower, 3 hours in veg, or with seedlings or clones 2.) How often should I change the reservoir and are there any special techniques to doing so? I only change after a grow is completed, topping off with nutes and rod water as needed to maintain res ppm 3.) Is flushing necessary and how would I do so? I dont flush 4.) Is an airstone recommended in an ebb and flow system? cant hurt, but I dont use 1 5.) Would fizzy CO2 tablets be recommended for use inside my reservoir? Would that serve any purpose at all in an ebb and flow system? probably of no value...If you want to add co2, brew beer and channel co2 thru the grow... I hope this helps !!! |

perlite
would it be an acceptable medium for a hydro setup either drip or ebb in flow?
also could it be used as a potting medium alone, instead of soil? would clay grow rocks be a medium that might work for potted plants? I would like to try a few different ideas though if anyone has the knowledge of experience, I would much prefer to hear. |
