Has anyone tried using Dry ice for Co2??

I am currently tied up for cash from the grow room build so I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to try out Dry Ice as a form of Co2. Ive been eyeing the Co2 tank and regulator but i figure I can stick some blocks of Dry Ice until I can afford a Co2 setup.

I have searched Dry Ice and didn't find anything too effective to work with.

Has anyone actually used dry ice as a form of Co2 in their Grows?

I have a 4Dx8Wx6H grow room and 2 600 watt hps's attached to 2 xtrasun 6 inch vented hoods with a 6 inch Vortex as my exhaust fan. A carbon filter is connected to the first hood, which has ducting into the next hood, and then has ducting that goes to the Vortex.

I put 5lbs of Dry Ice in a small cooler and shut the lid almost completely closed so that co2 would slowly draw out of the cooler. That way the Dry Ice doesn't melt really fast. The Dry Ice ended up lasting about 6 hours.

10 lbs of Dry ice for me = $8 bucks.

Not too bad for now... but I wasnt sure if I was overfeeding the Plants...

Has anyone had any experience with Dry Ice? Please share the experience!

you can use dry ice, but it is only cost effective on smaller rooms. Your room is much too big for dry ice. If you look around on Ebay you can get a used co2 regulator for around $80.00, & you basically just rent the co2 tank & pay $20.00 to get it filled.

The you just get a CAP co2 controller. I think they are around $160.00.

If you wanted to use dry ice, you would spend more than the cost of a regulator & controller on dry ice in a matter of a few months.

Yeah....that is a pretty good deal, but you can get em' even cheaper sometimes.

Adding Co2 to your grow can add as much as 35% more weight to your buds. It can also cut down on the time it takes for your buds to ripen.

Then all you need is this & you are good to go.

It'll be worth it in the end.

i dunno how cost effective this method is anymore but back in the day my dad would fill propane bottles hook up a torch too it and burn that in his grow room, he had a huge room with 60 plus plants and propane was cheaper by far then it is today, its at least an idea... plus produces heat that can be used during the off light hours to keep temps up.
