Car headlights for Plants?

Hi! i`ve been trying to think "out of the box" about lighting, and i wonder if anyone have tried using headlights from a car? I`ve found some H4 bulbs from philips witch are 4000k and 60W.
Anyone who knows if this would work?

Well boys and girls, I think I`ve done it!
The Philips Blue vision bulbs works like hell!
I`ve put two of them in my little "test-Lab", and after only 24h i can realy see the effects on my little clone. it looks like this could be a god, and cheap alternative ligth source!
All I used for the rigging was two blue vison H4 bulbs 4000k, some wire and a powersupply from a computer.
I made the reflectors from a plain round reflector witch i cut in half and stretched.
I`ve also used a fan from a computer, with a adjustable powersupply for RPM adjust.

Car headlights get very hot(like incandescents), so you will need GOOD 24/7 ventilation. Also what is the light spectrum on those?

I`ve been trying to find some more info about the bulbs, but there`s none to be found..thats why I just had to try'em out! the only thing it says is 4000k and 60w....

..."Blue Vision are made from UV cut quartz to protect your lens from UV radiation"...
I`ve also found out that other kinds of headligth bulbs emitt alot of UV radiation.

this is very interesting, correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe it is low voltage and compact requiring no bulky ballast and a cool tube would completely cure any heat issues. keep this updated, or you'll tempt me to do my own experiments.

they are working just fine, i think this clone has grown fast and nice..the top is a little weird becouse I tryed to fim it...they dont get hot at all, I can have the bulbs about 15-20cm over the plant without any burning or hanging leaves...just remember a fan or two...

Yeah your shit is hella stretching man. If you are using car headlights , you should only use HIDS.
