Spiking Ph...

So I was wondering, I am using a flood and drain with rockwool, 4x4 tables with a 40 gal res's.. My ph spikes every day, I check it twice a day and every time I am taking it from at least 6.5 down to 5.7.. Anyone got any idea's why it's spiking... I know it's suppose to creep up but not spike a whole point up.. don't most hydro sys's maintain a steady ph? thanks for any help...

How big is your res? If your plants are big or if you have a lot of plants with a small res and the plants take in a lot of water ph spike can happen. This is just one way that it could happen... Hope this make sense and helps.

If your adding any nutes to the res, maybe their pH is throwing it off.

rockwool has a high ph so you have to take that into account and check your roots.could be a sign of root rot. what is ur res temp? is ur res well oxygenated and lightproof?

Yes, it is.. and there is no root rot, I think it might have been due to a lack of nutes.. the nutes that were there where getting eaten to fast thus lowering acidity and spiking the PH.. But I'm not sure yet, still feeling it out..
