pollinating question

So here's the question. Let's say I wanted to cross breed white widow and afgan. I would wait until the "banana's" produce from my female plant i.e. letting one flower longer and saving pollen in fridge. When my afgan begins to flower I would paint the pollen on a bud or two. Is this correct, and if it is does it matter which strain I get the pollen from. In example one we took white widow and pollinated afgan. Would we get different buds if we took afgan and pollinate it with white widow?

A GREAT QUESTION AND A TOPIC I BELIEVE DESERVES IT'S OWN FORUM SECTION.....IT GETS REAL COMPLICATED WITH GENETICS ETC.....I NEED MANY ANSWERS AS WELL AS A CROSS I WOULD LIKE TO TRY......

All I CAN SAY IS I HAVE HEARD OF THE PAINT BRUSH METHOD......BUT WHAT I USED TO DO WAS COLLECT MALE POLLEN AND PLACE IT IN A SANDWICH BAG....THEN WRAP (PLACE) THE BAG OF POLLEN AROUND A COLA/BRANCH YOU WANT SEEDED...SHAKE THE BAG/BRANCH ETC........OBVIOUSLY YOU GET TO HARVEST A "MAINLY" FEMALE PLANT WITH ONLY SOME SEEDS ON ONE BRANCH.....GRANTED THE POLLEN CAN BLOW AROUND BUT THAT IS MINIMAL (one time I did get seeds in strange sections though?)...I MISTED MY COLAS WITH WATER SO THE POLLEN REMAINED MORE STATONARY AND NOT POWDERY TO BLOW AROUND....A LITTLE POLLEN GOES A LONG WAY I DISCOVERED...........

BUT THE DECISION OF WHICH SEX TO CROSS WITH WHICH SEX....A DILEMNA AND SCIENCE MANY HAVE...I NEVER TRIED SERIOUSLY BUT ALWAYS USED THE MALE PLANT AS THE PARENT I HOPED WOULD BE MORE DOMINANT...IN OTHER WORDS IF I WANTED MORE NORTHERN LIGHTS IN A PLANT I USED A MALE NORTHERN LIGHT POLLEN.....BUT I AM NO SCIENTIST...JUST A HOBBYIST

the coma your saying that you can pollinate just a branch off your plant and only that branch will have seeds?

Yes it would seem male plant would be the dominate species, again like yourself I am far from a scientist. I guess the only thing we have to do is try like dr. frankenstien. I hoped someone would have previously experimented with this. I guess not or there not sharing. So many questions. Wouldn't it be great not only to cross yourfavorite buds and have them all be female. IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!. Thanks for your input.
