most folks tie down early on. i never have. i tie down in late veg/early flower. they seem more pliable then to me. i don't like messing with them when they're real young. but like i said, most do it early on.

I did some LST mid veg with great results, even some bent and broken branches grew well and are still flowering with the same vigor as the others.

I added a clamp around the high branches and used surgical clamps on each other till the weight pulled the branch where i wanted it and 2-3 days later moved them to another high branch and my tall plants were wide bushes now with 20-30 tops some growing from the very bottom of the 36" plant with nice buds fattening up.

i like to tie down early its easier in a hydro setup the plants seem more pliable than soil and some might still feel like there about to break so just tie down half way for about 24hours the plant should have adjusted to it by then then you can bend it the rest of the way no problem

You can bend the main stalk into the shape of the pot, like a spiral spring or in any direction but think about where your light will be concentrated and go from there.
