You definately need to use nutes that are designed for hydro.
Soil nutes do not need to have the microelements in them. Tap water can cause problems with magnesium lockout due to the calcium magnesium ratio being out of balance. If you have tap water that is near pH 8 then you will use a lot of pH down to maitain the pH in the proper range of 5.5 -5.8 Also if you use tap water, the nute mfg reccommend that you use 50% or less nute solutions. You will have better results, and grow faster, if you use nutes at 1/2 strenght. If you use RO water then you can use more nutes. I still only use 75% with RO. These are 65 days from planting the seeds and they are 28". only 75% Dutch Master Gold nutes.
