Increase THC levels before harvest?

I put this thread on the General Indoor Growing forum but not much advice so I thought I'd ask the experts. I'm about 10 days from harvest and plants doing well. Using a pocket microscope I am keeping an eye on the trichs and their development but there doesn't seem to be as great a coverage as in many of the pictures posted on this site. In an attempt to maximise potency of the weed I'm asking if you have any tips. So far I have read that you should harvest in the morning, leave the plants in darkness for a couple of days and starve it of water before harvest. Grateful for any other advice you may have. Thanks.....

9 days is a little late to add a uvb lamp I think, but I do have advice on your thoughts about starving the plant of water. It is not water in the soil that effects thc production but the water in the atmosphere.

this is straight from Marijuana Botany by Robert Connell Clarke

"Cannabis seems not to produce more resins in response to dry soil, as it does a dry atmosphere. Drying out plants by withholding water for the last weeks of flowering doest NOT stimulate THC production, although an arid atmosphere may do so."

If you are near a book store the I recomend picking up the book, It has pages and pages of information about harvest and harvest timing, I wish I was a better typer or I would have typed more from the book.

hope this helped

Thanks SteveDave, I Googled "Marijuana Botany by Robert Connell Clarke" and the first hit was a complete transcript of the book. A bit heavy but full of useful information which I will read carefully. Basically what it says is that there is very little you can do to increase THC production other than keep to a 12/12 regime and keep the plant as healthy as possible. Then it's just a case of harvesting as the trichomes mature depending on what kind of high you prefer.

Thanks again.

Drop the light hours down to 0! Keep the plants in complete darkness, which will put a great deal of stress on them and they will produce more thc. However, I would still water them...if youre using hydro dont use any nutrients the last week, just use ph balanced water to flush them!

GrowDesignsLLCDrop the light hours down to 0! Keep the plants in complete darkness,
Nonsense......don't do mean things to your plants.
Just flush them well and dry them correctly...and enjoy the fruits of your labor

Hey GrowDesignsLLC....lets see some pics of you doing this to your plants

Ive only heard a few things about molases, such as adding it to a premade nutrient mix to boost sugar/starch levels. However, the last half week or so in darkness makes a considerable difference in the amount of trichomes produced. I wouldnt be commenting on a grow technique I havent already tried, and was successful with, myself.

molasses will carbo load it making your yields bigger, but does nothing to stimulate thc production
the darkness things a myth too

the only thing i know would work would be a uvb bulb but like steve said it's too late.
you're pretty much stuck with the thc% you got from that strain.

The above suggestion is the one I was speaking of......
If you have only "Heard a few things about Mollasses" why are you suggesting someone put it on their own plants....are you willing to risk a whole "Stop Sign" fulla weed 4Lbs I belive....to something "Ya' Heard"?

I agree with DrBudGreengenes. I don't think dropping the light cycle will do anything good for your plant. I do harvest during the dark cycle (might be superstition).

I flush with water only for the last two weeks and make sure the humidity is as low as I can get it. Low humidity is key to great tricrome production.

Good luck, R.

Ive heard that you can decrease the temperature to the low 60s to massively increase THC production. Can anybody confirm this?

I've heard of people doing crap like that to make fake purp. I wouldn't recommend doing that to your plants I doubt that extream of a temp would do any good for it.
