Since the plant is in veg cycle it can recover quickly I assume?

Then 2 weeks later its ready for another round of cuts?

Would it be helpful for me to try and stretch mine a bit at this point?
It's nice to have tall, thick stems to select from for cuttings.

Do you prefer the hps as opposed to the flouro or MH?
So far, yes. I ran a 400W MH->HPS conversion lamp for 2 weeks and found it wasn't a patch on the 400HPS. The HPS pounds out about 30% more light than the MH conv lamp. Mothers took a full week longer to recover under MH.

so...

are they 2 gallon pots? sorry if this is stated somewhere here... i went through the thread but wasn't sure.

i heard from mr. cervantes that you should have a gallon per month lived. i'd guess 2 gallon would be about right for this setup? i'm thinkin about having my very small space accommodate this setup of maybe 5 or 6 two gallon DWC buckets for a sog. i dont have enough room for a rotation but just seems easily organized and most bud per square inch of space

Pots are 8" dia x 8" tall. 6" dia x 6" tall will do but they tip over more easily unless the plants are otherwise supported.

Don't know what you're on about with 2 gallon pots and Cervantes. Sounds like such a suggestion could be applicable to soil, but not to hydroponics.

In this application, there only needs to be enough media for the plant to grip to keep it vertical and which will hold enough water sustain the plant until the next flood event.

An 8" dia x 8" pot, if cylindrical will displace 402 cubic inches. A US gallon is 231 cu in, so an 8" x 8" pot is about 1.74 gallons... but you know what, I'd have never have known that without mathing it out- I haven't seen a gallon container of anything in 20 years.

each bucket is a two-gallon bucket, and it's ~8 inches diameter. it's a little more actually. but anyway im getting excited about setting it up. i think it'll work very nicely in my setup

these are the buckets i'm talkin about if you're interested.

If you need short plants- and all indoor growers do- you can flower cuttings at any time after they have set root or you can veg a bit. Artificial light, even 1000W HPS, only penetrates foliage so far. A 1000 produces nice buds up to 36-40" from the light. A good reflector will give you solid buds out to the edge of the coverage area.

hey fuct........i really like your setup using sog with the rotating grow trays... i have a few questions about it though...

you said you use a 1000w/2 trays. so if one tray under that light is in week 0-2 and the other in week 3-4, is there any conflict with the plants in the "3-4" tray being alot closer to the light than the "0-2" tray?

also, you said you take the clones directly to flower, how big are they when you cut them from the mother plant? even in your 0-2 week tray they look pretty tall. my clones are usually only about 3-5" tall and i would think that putting clones like that into flower immediately would result in a final "ready to harvest plant" height of about only 2ft.

i'm only on my 3rd indoor hydro grow and each one has been better than the previous, you said you don't bother with a flush, because to you it makes no difference. i have never tried NOT flushing, but even with flushing (and curing) my bud usually ends up tasting rather harsh you know that "HOME GROWN TASTE " do you have any suggestions how to get a really sweet taste similar to the smell???

i can't do your rotating sog method yet, cuz as of now my only grow area is a 4x4 hydro hut and a 2x3x6 in. cabinet. but as soon as i move into a bigger place, i'm going to give your idea a try, i would love to get a harvest every other week. if i remember correctly you said your were pulling roughly a LB every 2 weeks, not bad, how many plants in each of your rotating harvests ?

Betting about 8-10" spacing with an efficient reflector.

Trays are arranged in pairs, lights are placed directly above where each pair meet.

Mine start out about 9" tall. See the link in my sig to my post on cloning for detail.

Harshness could be caused by excessively dry buds or leaving too much bud leaf on the buds when manicuring. If fixing those doesn't cure the problem, get new DNA.

I harvest 23 plants every 2 weeks.

You don't really need 4 trays to do a continuous harvest SoG- you can do it in one tray. However, a single tray with a single reservoir makes applying additives like PK13-14 difficult- PK is applied to plants only in wk 3, others get the usual nute mix. Individual tanks and trays allow for tailoring the nutes to 2-week bands during flowering.
