"Pots of rockwool hold about 2L of water each; they only require flooding 1x day. I only flood to about 50mm, not to the full depth of the overflow tube. This is managed with digital timers. Each pump has its own timer and can be set for as short a runtime as I like. Different pumps may require more or less time to flood to 50mm and are programmed accordingly. "

Hi, I'm working on replicating your basic setup only I'm going to try using one gallon buckets. Could you tell me what size your reservoirs are for each of the 4 main blooming trays as well as the others for mothers and clones? I couldn't find this in the thread.
Also I would love to see some more detailed pictures of your setup as it is now. And thanks in advance for any help - plus thanks for this post, it's been allot of help.

which strains do you find give the best yield when grown like this??

I use Sweet Tooth #4 from SPice of Life seeds, may no longer be available.

Any indica dominant hybrid will do nicely in SoG, tho.

So would this way work, take clones from flowering plants put it in a veg room till it gets roots. Than take the clone with roots and put it in a flower room? Than take clones from the flowering plants over and over in that process.
You seem to have missed the first post in this thread. :?

Mums are kept in their own area under 24h light, separate from the flowering area. Mums are never flowered, only used for clones.

Should be able to get 4 or so oz every two weeks, but i duno, haven't done it yet, just plans.
Unless your floorspace is really limited, a tent with some trays in it is more efficient to light and easier to cool. Cabinets are fine if you're stuck for floorspace but often harder to keep the temps down. It's also a bit less exxy to run a single 1000 than 4x 250w, owing to ballast losses. A 250 HPS draws abt 325W from the mains, 1300 for 4 of them. A 1000 pulls about 1100W from the mains.

Each of my flowering trays' reservoirs is 125L. The 10 mums have a 50L tank. 5L per plant, however you work it out.

My clones live in a clonebox but are watered by hand, so no reservoir, just a bucket to dip the cube corners in.

There's been no changes to the basic setup, so pix today would look the same as any others you've seen.

Awful sorry about the keyboard, mon.

There's a bunch of useful stuff in this thread. Bookmark it if it doesn't get stickied. In fairness, it's a bit old by now.

since the trays are bigger there would obviously be more plants.

If that is too much of a stretch for the 1000w would a 600w over each tray perform just as well?
A 1000w light will cover 4 by 4... one of them. IF you try stretching it to get more your going to lose out.

Re: Get a harvest every 2 weeks

A 1000 over a 4'x4' tray does technically fit the rough guide of 50W HPS/sq ft for flowering areas (62.5W/sq ft). However, efficient horizontal light fixtures (notably with batwing reflectors) lay down a rectangular light pattern. If you want to cover a square area, a vertical fixture with a conical reflector would best suit. However, vertical fixtures have some problems. It they're arranged with the socket on the top (as most are), the socket cops a lot of heat, lessening the life of the HPS bottle. Also, vertical fixtures rely on bouncing most of the light off the reflector before it gets to the plants. A direct light path from lamp tube to plants puts the greatest light intensity on the leaves instead of on the reflector.

You're better off with a 3'x ~5' tray space under a 1000 with a horizontal fixture and batwing reflector.

Re: Get a harvest every 2 weeks

Nice efficent set-up Al, I may replicate your set-up in the very near future.

Your clones root very quickly, what's the ideal temperature, to set the heatmat, for rooting the clones?

Re: Get a harvest every 2 weeks

Thanks, John.

My heat mat is fixed at 30C. I run the air temp in the clone box at about 28C.

Re: Get a harvest every 2 weeks

Thanks Al.
Hope you stick around a bit longer, so when the time comes, i can throw more questions at you.

I like reading journals from growers who have their head screwed on!

Re: Get a harvest every 2 weeks

heh, thanks for the compliment.

I'm usually around on the periphery but I don't pop in to the cannabis boards much; I got a gig running some websites and it takes up a lot of my time. I just haven't got the time to post on the pot boards as much as I once did, but I'll do what I can.

Good luck.

Question Re: Get a harvest every 2 weeks

quick q AL B....we just started our op and we got our clones @ around 5in. We were expecting 8-10 inch clones but we got what we got and have exuasted all funds. We put our babies straight into flower all 25. We are mothering now with 6 babies from the new batch and put the rest to flower also around 5in. Were using 2 1000hps with 6in plastic pots and coco for our median. We are working with cali O super silveR haze and some afgan cuSH. They been in for 3 weeks and are about 14 16in now. My question is by putting our clones in so small how much will our yield be affected?? Any idea how much more they will grow?
