CO2 question??

all right my little girl has been on 12/12 for a week. i am getting my tax return this weekend and am looking at places to improve my set-up. i was wondering when CO2 is most useful in the grow process? would it be beneficial if i introduced CO2 this late in the grow? i know it can t hurt it but will it be worth buying now or just wait for my next grow?? any help would be greatly appreciated.

also any T5 experts out there i would definitely like to know if i should use 3500K bulbs while flowering. i have a 24" 4 bulb new wave, right now all 4 are 6000K should i go with all 4 3500Ks or a mix?? the link to my closet is below

If your only growing one plant dont bother with co2 buy some good nutes with your money. Give that one plant all you can maybe some iguana juice for base definately gotta hit it with some big bud some sensizyme or hygrozyme then some fungi such as pirannah and some bacteria like tarantula. that should run you less than co2 and probably boost your yield pretty nice.

BTW Co2 is very effective below 80. No matter, what 76-78 is ideal, temperatures over 80 are permissible, but not ideal with Co2. And I saw you mention you might spray paint your res i did that once long ago and i got lots of paint chips in my solution.

thcientist.... i believe you may have been miss informed.... co2 tends to be far more effective with higher temps! ive personaly have dramatic improvments with higher temps! think about it... high light consentrations, high oxygen intake in the roots, high co2 intake, and high strength nutes maxamizes all your neccesites.please correct me if im wrong( especially more respected growers out there), but increasing your heat while still keeping it under the 104 mark would excite the cells more..... i belive i read that in the indoor growers bible i picked up at the hydro shop i go to.

Spend your money on more lighting and better nutrients, forget about the CO2 unless you have a closed system. Take a look at a couple of my grows, nary a drop of additional CO2 for my babies.

increasing CO2 is one of the best ways of increasing yield but you'll also need to increase the light etc in order to get the most out of the extra CO2. if i was you i would invest in some HPS before i spent money on CO2 equipment. That doesnt mean you shouldnt experiment, i really think the sugar and yeast thing is worthwhile for smaller grows and you will notice an increase in the yield. ive got four plants under two 600 watt lights and with the extra CO2 ive got no doubt i'll get at least 2 pounds, there is one plant in particular which will be pretty close to a pound just by itself.... only two weeks left till my weed free binge is over, i cant wait for that first toke :-)

and increasing CO2 does mean the temps can be higher, ive had temps as high as 45 degrees celcius on a hot summers day and the plants showed no signs of stress. from my experience increasing CO2 means the plants can have higher temps, more light and stronger nutes...

From what I've read, anything above 35ºC (95ºF) with CO2 enrichment will still hurt the plants. It might not hurt them as much as with no CO2 enrichment, however. Generally maximum optimal conditions for a grow room are: 35ºC, 50% or less humidity, 1500ppm CO2, 7500-10,000 lumens per square foot. If you vent, there's no point in CO2, but with CO2 you need much less venting. Also, of course, hydro and proper nutes will allow you the best possible growth-throughput to your plants.

I actually suggest getting some 430W son agro color corrected HPS lamps. With about 1 for every 5ft^2 growing space, you'll have somewhere around 9,900 lumens per square foot, which is right nearly optimal, and the color corrected HPS bulbs are reported to be the best lights you can get. If you want to CO2 enrich, what I suggest is air-sealing your grow area, installing an airlock (basically two doors with a little area between them to restrict air exchange when you enter/leave the grow room), and spending 35-40 minutes in the room twice a day. an 8ftx8ftx8ft grow room requires 70 minutes of resting human breathing to saturate it to the equiv of 1500ppm CO2 for a day. 2x 35 minutes is better for the plants (and better not to asphyxiate you) since the CO2 isn't nearly as far over optimal (which stunts growth) for any lengthy period of time when you spread it out.

Now, the main reason I prefer human-based CO2 enrichment is because it's free. You're gonna breathe anyway so why not triple your plants' growth while you're at it? Secondly, you're probably gonna spend a good deal of time in the grow room anyway; pruning, feeding, admiring your beautiful babies etc. so it makes more sense to go ahead and use that time for everything it's worth. A quick $20 at a hydro store will set you up with a CO2 meter you can use to make sure your enrichment isn't going somewhere unexpected, and will also help keep you safe from asphyxiation.

The original CO2 enrichment guide is here.

Of course, if your grow room is very large, CO2 could be highly impractical at any rate, or if you have extensive venting already, or if you only have one plant. However, I highly suggest it if you have 3+ ladies and want to see them get huge.

Veg: 24/0 : 35min x 2 per day for CO2
Flower: 13/11 : 40 mins once a day for CO2
Harvest (when the pistils just start to change color): 6/18 : 20 mins a day during light hours. (the 6 hour light makes the plants crystal out like hell, only do this for about 7 days else the flowers get overripe and stupifying).

Just go get a co2 tank... $50 deposit and $5 refill at any Coke or pepsi distributor. Its a hefty sized high pressure tank too (about 3.5-4 feet tall) They use it for fountain machines. Say you got a fountain machine you use for fairs n church stuff or daycare's ... Whatever .... they aint gonna be eyeballin your long haired pot smoker ass like a weldin shop or somewhere else will.
