this is probably a dumb question but whats the difference between this and a scrog? is a scrog the same thing, just lst`ing the plant down and fill out the screen? or is there a big difference?

not dumb question at all. a scrog is similar but the plant is actually pushed below the screen and then allowed to grow up through creating an even canopy of buds, in theory. i am using the screen grid as a support to tie the plant down to. i simply hung the grid from the top of my closet with some hemp twine. it has worked quite well especially paired with the T5 flos which can be set right real close to the tied down plant.

the last pic shows the thirsty bitches roots reaching in my reservoir. is this a bad thing?? i stuck an airstone under (actually one of the wood ones weighted down with a socket!) to make sure those roots were oxygenated, like a dwc.

any comments on the system greatly appreciated. this is my first grow so i have a ton to learn and am happy to learn it. opinions on whether to upgrade to an 8 bulb T5 fixture or a 250 watt hps/mh also appreciated.

just to give everyone a heads up. i splurged today and bought two 4 bulb 24" T5s, just like the one i got. now i can give my buddy his back and i have twice as much light!!!! i like these T5s and think theyre the best suited for my space. im really curious to see how my plant reacts to all this extra light. also pick up some pk 13/14 as recommended by smokey and will be putting it in the system in a week. well thought id let everyone know what is going on and ill post pics in a few days, hopefully it goes crazy.

Wait, what day of flower are you at? Seems like it should be at least 30 days right? I hope your buds have gotten much bigger now than those pics indicate. Thats alot of scrog for one plant. Lots of tiny colas to cut, dry and cure! I hope you get some good scissors.
I just finished my second harvest of the NLxBB (Nirvana NL#5xBigBud) and this doesnt seem like a good scrog plant to me.
What problems are you seeing? Btw, if you think you can keep your space cool def. pick the 250w HPS instead of CFL/T5 stuff.

i switched my lights on 4/20 so its only been 18 days of flower and things are looking well. im gonna change nutes this friday and add pk 13/14. hopefully new nutes + more light = big buds. so far smokey its has been pretty easy to train. this is my first time so im not too sure if a different plant would be better or not.

i went and picked up four 2700k bulbs today and mixed them with the 6000ks. the difference in light color is huge, hopefully the girlie likes it. anyways heres pics of my new light set-up (192W and 16,000 lumens) and plant pics.

Looking great guy.

Came a long long way from that scrawny plant you started with.

Yes the thirsty root thats gone into your res is fine as long as you have an airstone in there, what you have now is a super hybrid unit LOL..

1. Aeroponic (how you started out)
2. NFT (becuase of the root going from one unit to the other and water running down the root)
3. DWC (root in Res)

Good job +rep

thank you very much. much appreciated especially from you. definitely a crazy hybrid unit works great though. unfortunately i have some semi-bad news the plant is a hermie. looks likes its genetic. this plant came from a clone of my friends plant which wasnt a hermie. how often does this happen?? anyways shit bad luck still be able to smoke it or hash it.

just changed the nutes on thurs night and added pk 13/14. also spent like 45 minutes picking nuts off the plant. was that a good idea?? and is there anything i should do with the sacs??

pics of the she male:

Usually if you get a hermie out of a femme clone it means you did something wrong and shocked the plant.

thats what i thought too haplo, so im not too sure. anyways i picked off most of the nuts and am going to keep flowering it since it is my only plant. it is looking pretty good, a little spotting is showing up on some leaves but other than that the plant is looking healthy. starting to get very sticky and a bit smelly. its been 23 days since going 12/12. heres some pics:

BTW, if you're still getting tip burn and spotting, it's because you're overfeeding. BBs are extremely picky eaters and it's easy to burn em. The constant burn might be responsible for the hermie =\.

Sucks about the hermie man. Just make it a learning experience and finish flowering her out. Id start looking for light leaks in your grow space as the likely culprit.

ya having it hermie on me was the last thing on my mind. definitely shittie. still looks strong and is continuing to fill out. i think the culprit were the inlet/exhaust openings and i am planning on improving my ventilation before the next grow. im gonna put 90 degree elbows on the vent. fans and paint the inside of them flat black. that should fix my light problem and make my ventilation better. i definitely have some new plans in my mind for a new set up in the closet but probably wont get to it till around september when i start school again. once this one is harvested im going to throw another clone in there for my roommate to look over during the summer and ill check on it a couple times a month.
anyways pics in a few days.
