Hydro vs Soil

Ive heard hydro gives better yields as one can control the nutrients more reliably than soil?

Is this true? Can anyone list some PROS/CONS of each? I was going to do a small grow using soil, but a friend is telling me that hydro is much easier to do.

High nin! Yes and no! lol. Nutes may be easily supplied in hydro, and there is plenty of dissolved oxygen for the root systems. So its easier to prevent a deficency, which prevents slow growth, which prevents deminished yeilds. But in optimum soil conditions, identical yeilds should be achived.
to me, soil is way difficult. repotting and suplementing, and watering by hand. plust trying to adjust the ph of soil when the plant is growing seem difficult. my system just runs itself. i flush and change every week and thats it.....no need to even check the ph any more. pluss my system (Aeroponic) is the fastest growing system ive EVER used. Peace and luck, TBug

Ok 2nd question..

How possible is a perpetual harvest? I want to harvest every 2-4 weeks. Seems with hydro i'm limited by the # of buckets in my system? Whereas soil i just keep cloning and adding smaller pots, then repotting.

Hi nin. If you have it in you, go hydro. Its so easy. I have each plant in its own little self contained bucket. Im using a bubblier method. each 2 gal bucket has a lid, one long air stone silicone glued to bottom, its own pump that i Velcro to the bucket and all the tubing is neatly placed. if i want to move a plant( i like to rotate and relocate once a week). Moving them, changing water, topping off and LSTing is so simple when each plant is self contained.

I concurr, only a fool grows hydro without them, The PH and ppm can change daily. For instance, currently, my plants are sucking all the alkline(base) nutrients out and if I don't adjust the ph it'll be down under 5.0 inside a day, from 6.0.

Thats pretty cool i like the tube in the middle i might actually do that but as for growing on the walls unless you have 200 plants its unnessary. i would just set up some type of chicken wire or something and have it around the wall and as the plants grow tie them to it and make a wall. you would have the same result only it would take a few extra weeks and you'll have less plants.
