1st Hydro grow w/ Feminized Ice strain

Hello all,

I am back, my first attempt to grow ended in a tragedy (search pink nugs!) but I am over it. A few pics to start'chall off with. I have two ice fems growing in a 5 gal res, I'm going to top plenty so I can fill up the 50gal (pic 4) but as you can see in pic 3 I am having trouble with the second plant it looks as if its being eaten away by bateria, mold keeps growing on the pete moss pellet,
I know I should have used rockwool but the first attempt using rockwool killed my seeds! Any ideas why? I kept moist but not to moist, I didn't put a light on it.
I'm planning on scraping the stem with a razer blade and applying rootech then rapping another pete moss pellet around it . Any suggestions would be much appreciated i've got superthrive but unsure of its purpose.

also had trouble with rockwool m8 - personally i think it's fkin $hite
I use the wife's Tampaxes - u know sanitary thingies.
Fkin perfect for startin seeds off in & transplanting to clays.
try it next time - not had a single seed fail on me yet using them

u should cover the peatmoss blocks with clays to prevent that mould.
& plant #3 is fkt m8 scrap it before it spreads it's rot

whats up man, im currently in my first hydro grow too. so the rockwool probably killed your seeds because they are natorious for raising the ph levels to high. be careful with that mold problem cause you dont want to be waisting your time on a plant that will A. taste like shit. b. die later because the mold is out of your control. just use rockwool and make sure to condition it before you use it.

How do you condition the rockwool?

look at google or any hydro sites. its called rockwool conditioner. help maintain a neutral ph through out your grow. i didnt do that on my grow and have had one hell of a time with the ph down shit i have.

With Rockwool, you have to "condition" it - or soak it in ph'd solution for 24 hours before using. That's why your seedlings died.

Your hydro setup looks awesome. I love that design, I've considered using the same one when I do my first hydro grow (I want a few soil grows under my belt first). How are you going to control the root growth? I've heard that root clogging can be an issue with that design.

This lil girl's been growing since 8/29/06. I want to top her as much as I can because I'm going to clone her 11x. She's been looking extremely healthy, growing symmetrically, just changed the reservoir size to 10 gal and put in new solution added espsom (1/4 tsp per gal). So it's been about 19 days, what dyall think about topping right now.

I have that exact same problem, but in soil.It only seems to happen on the lower leaves
