Best hydro (or aero) system for scrogging?
I think I'm going to give scrogging a shot... I've got about 6'x6' and 9' high of space.
I don't have any hydro setup just yet but I'm looking for the best approach for this (scrogging) method... probably something where the resevoirs would be beneath the actual system since I have a lot of height to work with. I figure since I'll be using clones and flowering once they veg get a bit above the screen I wouldn't need large net pots to grow in... would 6" diameter net pots be sufficient? I currently have 1 600w setup (with cool tube as well as HPS & MH conversion bulbs). To maximize the potential of this space I'll probably need to get another one... that isn't my real concern just yet though. I'm looking for a good hydro/aero system that is fairly quiet (I've heard bubblers are really loud?) but nothing over the top with maintenance requirements, etc. Anything online pre-built you guys can recommend or even instructions for building my own if everything out there is rediculously priced. I've got a budget of about 700 more dollars to put in this grow. I have everything else but the hydro setup, meters & nutes. Could I get away w/ 1 plant per sq ft? If so then I'd like to start with something for about 10 (maybe 5'x2') that I could use with this 600w light and then if I wanted to just add another 5'x2' setup right next to it w/ a new 600w light for the second grow... in total probably centered in the room at about 20'x4'? any help would be great guys! |

well yes 1 plant per square foot is the norm for a scrog setup. i think that bubble buckets are one of the best setups imho. they're not very loud. have you ever listened to an aquarium with an airstone in it? like i said its not loud, the bubbles are too small to make any real noise. as for the size i would actuely put 9 square 5 gallon buckets lined up in 3 rows of three to fill up a 3.5x3.5 chicken wire screen per 600 watt light. oh and i would connect them all with a 10th plantless controll bucket kindof off to the side conected into the system so that you can just empty and fill the buckets from there without moving any of them. it makes it alot easier. and with the air pumps i would get somthing like 5 dual outlet aquarium pumps and interconect them all into a central line to run all of the air stones that way if one of them fails then they all will still be getting (allbeit slightly less) oxygen to the roots.
i hope this helped! -luv Last edited by luv2snobord999 : 08-14-2006 at 07:20 AM. |
