Let me start off by saying that I post this here because it is pretty important to anybody serious about growing. I don't post it elsewhere because I don't give a shit about the teenagers taking pictures of bong hits..It just recently came out that michigan state police use a device that downloads all of the information of your cellphone including pictures videos contact information text emails, and believe it or not even deleted stuff. they have been doing this since 2004. I live in california now but years ago I use to live in michigan. that is some fucked up shit because I know we all like to take pics of our beautiful ladies. And no, I'm not talking about your fat ugly wives. Lol. if you want to read more I'm sure you can google it, I heard about it on the ron and fez show, xm 105, and they have a story on their website the interrobang.c*m, I would have linked it but I'm not sure on the policy

They shouldn't be able to use anything without a warrant, so it does them no good. And that seems like a giant lawsuit waiting to happen

This. They may have that info, but if they tried to use it in court, it would be worthless unless they obtained it with a warrant.

well all of you saying that it cant be used in court yada yada yada.... have you learned nothing about our fair US of A gov..... they dont give a shit. In other words, if they get images or txts off your phone that show growing, yes they wont be able to use it in court but YOU ARE ON THE RADAR. They will just stake your pace out and take a couple snapshots of their own... call it recon and get a warrant from the judge. Its not that they will use it in court, they will use it to find out who is or is not growing to try to concentrate their efforts.

If they are staking your place out and see something then your doing something wrong. In all honesty if you are keeping pictures and things like that on your phone your asking to be caught.

I was thinking that it's pretty dumb to have grow pictures on your cellphone, but its probly even more dumb to admit to interstate drug trafficking on a message board where ip addresses can easily be traced, for the purpose of trying to impress strangers.

There's a huge difference between a picture of a growing marijuana plant on your cell phone and discussing drug trafficking online.

I'm sure there are tons of talks about killing Jews, Blacks, Hispanics, and Whites on the internet, but that doesn't mean it's happening.

A photograph of a marijuana plant on your phone means that it's happening somewhere.

But... you're dumb, and it's perfectly normal.

I would think trying to extract info from your cell phone would be incredibly difficult wirelessly. The videos and photos from my phone are 1080p and 8mp respectively and without a high-speed connection it would take a while to download. The device in the link looks like it needs to be plugged in directly to your phone which there's no chance I would consent to that. Something that is as easy to steal and hack as a phone should have the bare minimum of personal info and maximum security(encryption app)... if you plan on being shady on your phone.. Delete your txts, photos and video or anything else incriminating and you shouldn't have much to be paranoid about.

what are you talking about? there are plenty of phones that are not smart phones. I have a smartphone and a slide phone with barely any technology. the slide phone does not have any of the bells and whistles, no gps no camcorder, etc...

while im not questioning you, it does seem a little far fetched (for the average state trooper etc.) to have access to somthing like this. While its no secret that the nsa is watching and listening to virtually everything we do, icant picture putting this in place at the state or local level..not to mention it seems that it would require a fairly extensive knowledge of hacking to isolate the signal from an individual cell phone, and download all of its content without the suspect knowing. but to be on the safe side, why not just shut off the phone if you are ever pulled over. Just opinion and speculation on my part, feel free to set me straight

They don't wirelessly grab your data. They have to actually get your phone and plug it into the device:

This.
Think about it guys... Anyone here ever root an android device? Ever back up your phone? How long did that take? How fast can you transfer the 16 or so gigs of data on my phone to look through it? I have a few gigs of pictures alone so even if they limit what info they are looking through to my pictures... Hope they have the 10 minutes or so it takes to transfer.

And they physically need your phone. Did anyone here need to be told if you have info on your grow on your phone, and the police get your phone they might find out that info?

Did anyone not know that you can plug a storage device into a computer and make a back up copy?

I had my phone plugged into one of these deals once... I had to answer questions about my messages for nearly 15 minutes, then I was told to clean up my act... Probably my most stressfull brush with the law ever...
