i really believe i can hit 1.2 with co2 and hydro with hps but would expect 2.0 with led hydro and co2
You do but this is all based on the systems being free as well.... those are serious change for us if we wanted to go pick two up..... itd take a whileeee to break even even if they are more efficient.

just messin' around about all the light for one plant. don't really have an opinion on led's. i've tried to find some grows to see the actual results but could never find any finished logs here, on riu, or icmag. i could just be horrible with the search function, though
looking forward to seeing how this turns out. fan of your threads, rumple.

cuz itd be so hard to drop em back to being level when that time comes? Not trying to argue but it aint like its a lifelong option to tilt em while the plaants tiny.....

Re: Rumple's LED Challenge

No you search just fine. There ARE no credible grow logs of any kind with LEDs. The very few that do exist are always LED + HID or LED + CFL.

I'm just glad we'll finally get to see what pure LED can do with optimal conditions. I am going to take a guess and say his harvest will be around the mid point of his average.

huh

If you want to get technical. Look how the lights are hung, it would be a pain in the ass to get them to tilt any way you want. They're on steel leaders connected to a central point.

Re: Rumple's LED Challenge

the lights have space between em dont they? you could use something as simple as a piece of sturdy twine and tie to one steel leader from each and tighten so the lights pull a bit towards each other thus changing the angle of both at the same time.

seems like a 2 minute pain in the ass

Re: Rumple's LED Challenge

Looks pretty good. But would this plant be the same with only 1 LED light instead of 2?

Why dont you buy some and do it?

It would also change the distance from the plant, which... yet again. Is specified by prosource. Just accept the parameters and watch. You are incredibly argumentative.

Re: Rumple's LED Challenge

Im not argumentative hahaha just innovative Sorry, forgot the crazy specifications from the company. But it would def increase the lumens hittin the plant by a shitload. You acted like it would be a bitch to tilt em and I explain how to make it easy then you shut it down due to the specs. I was just throwing a good idea out there is all.

If I had da cash sitting around maybe I would try it but the prices are nowhere near reasonable so till then Ill sit back and watch. plus I have my t5s and HPS already purchased so def not happenin anytime soon.

have a nice evening... maybe smoke a bowl. Whatever'll fix ya mood

1 x HO chicken feeders can cover that for around $800 and watt are 80 2x $1600 and your watts would be about 150. You could also do 2 to 4 grow pads for 1000 to 2k and be at 120 to 200 watts. The lights have plenty of power.

Re: Rumple's LED Challenge

One of those chicken feeders will absolutely NOT even come close to covering a 4.5x4.5 area. The cone of light that thing puts out is so narrow you would have trouble covering the canopy of ONE flowering plant.

Those LED's are definitely the most advanced, the lights just aren't even remotely close to being well designed for growing. They're industrial light fixtures for factories and shops...

Re: Rumple's LED Challenge

Ok, lets talk about the tilt thing first.

It would not be hard to change the angle the light's rest at. Not sure if you would want to do that though. Let me explain.

When I first installed the lights, Prosource said I had them too close together. The over-lapping light will be too much in between the lamps. They wanted a 12" gap between the two lights, to keep the intensity even throughout the closet. I wanted everything centered so I protested a little. The light does not just go strait down, it goes outward from the source. They did not think it would be good to have the lamp's light overlapping. I told them you can never have too much light, and it would be fine centered, reluctantly they agreed to do it my way.

I let the clone root in the 6" net pot installed in my clone machine until I saw a few roots outside the basket.

This is not the same plant, but it is at the same point as all my day one plants.

Re: Rumple's LED Challenge

Rumple, I am very interesting how it goes now that you are in flowering.

My LED setup worked great for veg but after 2 weeks of flowering i am not happy with the led + cfl results and am switcing to 400 watt HID tonight. i am curious if you also find that LED at this point is perfect for VEG but not quite ready (unless you have big bucks) for flowering.

I just dont think you can get the penetration needed low wattage LED's. I hope i am wrong, i want to go all LED so bad.
